I am in favor of an @Help tag granted to a limited number of individuals who have passed Cadet and ACS and have played for a certain length of time. Those individuals in theory should have the knowledge to answer basic and even intermediate questions that a new player might have when playing.

Setting the tags up is easy, it's how the program is marketed to the community is what is going to be hard. Getting the word out to the new players may be a bit of a challenge. Regardless, I'd like to see Sp4wn and Batman's proposal on the subject. Anything that can be done to ease the burden of this game's learning curve would be a benefit to this community.

As I remember, the @alleg's were originally tasked with doing both the @help stuff and the enforcement stuff.

I supported seperate tags in the past, as I wanted to help people (including those on the noob server), but didn't want to be involved in the drama of enforcement.
I got told that helping people was the @allegs job, and that we didn't need others to do it.

I hope that with the passage of time and new people in charge we can get the roles spilt (the @allegs can still help people though too)

Taking another look at the newbie servers could be good, as well as at the automatic boost to rank (5) which seems to happen pretty fast with the current settings.

Hey, an interesting thread! ;)

Could we have more @Alleg feedback on how they deal with the newbie server and their experience with helping new players?

As for the CDT Staff, I'd like to insist on Rav's comment: instructors and reps may not have a tag, but many of us take some time ingame to point 0s and such in the right direction (and they're usually quite grateful for that).

We need @Alleg on as much as possible.

i see the point of @help as people who babysit newbie server, and try to help our alleg newborns in their first steps. for that they don't have to have ACS. they are not here to teach them how to be good at the game -> what is CDT's job, they are here to help them not to drown in the first moments.

To everybody that is questioning the idea, I believe the focus of @Help should not be to go out of your way to find a newb and learn him up real good. It should be about being available in the game with the tag on so that when a newb needs a question answered he knows that your willing to answer it.

It won't be a waste of my time to help somebody with a question during a game. I already do that when a new player randomly asks something.

I take it thats what @Help is supposed to be, right?

As an @Alleg I have almost always run into the same situation FreeBeer mentioned.
Enter the Newbie server and ask if anyone needs help, tell them how to talk on "all" channel. I am almost always greeted with silence. Every once in a while I will get a response but it is very rare.

I support this idea but whatever name is used should be easily understood for the masses from all countries so @Help makes the most sense to me.
I would suggest that if this idea utilized, that @Allegs try to be on the newbie server more often to ensure the @Help aren't whoring on the noobs.
