Which is all fine until we realise that it's an effect that doesn't miraculously disappear when 'played in reverse' /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />takingarms1 wrote:QUOTE (takingarms1 @ Apr 8 2008, 03:54 PM) /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> in the past, people have complained that the whores with greater lag had an unfair advantage because they lagged off damage.

Granary Sergeant Baker - Special Bread Service (Wurf - 13th Oct 2011)
How the hell does that work, anyways? Allegiance seems to be using a weird damage model.ImmortalZ wrote:QUOTE (ImmortalZ @ Apr 8 2008, 10:19 AM) Pff.
You can't lag off damage for ever. Lag also adversely effects your aim.
IMHO, there is no reason any US player should complain about playing on Euro servers. STFU and learn to adjust with lag you coddled spoiled kids!
Let's say that I launch a missle and hit a fleeing opponent at the edge of my missle range. It seems that Allegiance immediately credits me for the hit, and the enemy ship health bar drops. But then it seems like the enemy gets a final say on whether he got hit or not. He could very well say "nuh-uh! From my perspective your missle timed out before it hit me", and his health gets restored.
That's a weird design. Not that I've played many multiplayer games, but I've never seen this behavior elsewhere. Isn't it usually the server that is the final arbiter of who recieved what damage, not the guy I am shooting at?
Relativistic effects shouldn't kick in at such low speeds.

Missiles are pretty much unaffected by lag. It is the pw damage that gets lagged off. Basically the server thinks the shots are missing even though it looks like you are hitting the target. The reason is lag - your computer and the server and the other guy's computer aren't all on the same page as to the location of the ships, PW shots, etc.

Its amusing watching someone bomb(non rix) who is laggy as hell thoughtakingarms1 wrote:QUOTE (takingarms1 @ Apr 8 2008, 08:27 PM) Missiles are pretty much unaffected by lag.
I'm sorry I don't remember any of it. For you the day spideycw graced your squad with utter destruction was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Sunday

My apologies.

I know that allegiance is less laggy and more at peace without your old sig.

Yeah, it was a fun game. Probably the only basic TT captures I'll see in a while.
A personal highlight for me was launching a GS to defend the base from a bomb run and my keyboard somehow getting stuck on the "l" key moving in the wrong direction. (This happens to me with the thrust keys sometimes too). I had to turn course lock on and then off again to regain control, while my @XT turrets wondered what the hell their pilot was doing. But hey, we were the only defenders so I'm pretty sure the base was dead anyway, so no harm done. Right?
Yeah, I made a good first impression in my first SG. /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />
