Honestly my hider is not a tool to bust people from hidding. It is more a way to let me play the game in annother manner. Besides I am pretty lax about things... friendly warnings over administrative action whenever I can help it.

Under Lindy I strive to be a team player and spend a lot of time nanning and on D. On my hider my goal usually is just to shoot things and ignore the tactical situation. Obviously the former style of play is more condusive to winning while the latter lets me blow off steam more. Personally I think its helpful to my team and my commander as well, since both names perform pretty consistently to type. If I just used one name, they'd have to guess as to how I am playing that day. It also amuses me to see who can figure out that both names are me, since I leave little clues for people that pay attention to catch.

But I will say that getting up in my grill whileviolating the ROC when I am on my blow off steam hider may not be the best of ideas /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

In all honesty I find that the things that put me off more than games filled with newbies (assuming the newbies are evenly spread) are bad commanders (not new people commanding, but people who just plain suck), stacks (often linked with the above) and a whole load of people sitting in noat and not playing.

As all these things are done by Vets not newbies I think you won't improve matters any with a "Vet" only server. Not only that but you'll force newbies to play games with a lower concentration of vets which means they'll learn slower and you get less vets over time. In a few months I think you ought to look at this again and see how big the community is. There will come a time when this will be a massive asset with no negatives, but not quite yet IMO.
read wiki dude, if you dont, dont insult newbs

Now, I'm not going to write a dissertation on peoples motives for stacking, but i think getting brutally raped game after game may have something to do with it.
Read what I wrote, I'm not talking about ranking at all, im talking about SKILL and ABILITY to play the game.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now, to continue clarifying this: The goal of this would be to elevate the base skill level to a point where commanders would no longer want to drink themselves into oblivion before getting on. To be honest, how many of you would rather play a squadgame of 10 v 10 or 15 v 15 over these 20 v 20 @#(!ty Pickup games?
With KNOWN and Squadded players, you know exactly whats what. You know who is where, and you can tell when things are getting silly. Under this current system you have VETERAN XT PLAYERS running around as (0)'s.
Anyone encounter someone known as Kamel_Reds(0)? get your ass podded? yeah, totally a newbie there </sarcasm>.
The idea is to get EXPERIENCED and SKILLED players, and to ENSURE quality of gameplay, just not allow any unknowns to fly.
I know this sounds utterly elitest, newbie hating, and asshatish, but lets be honest with ourselves here for a minute, how many people are spending more and more time playing OTHER games because of the rampant suckage that has taken over allegiance?
For all those who say were better off without the asshats and people like me, remember that its the elite players who set the standards of skill, not the newbies. I'm not exactly sure when this got spun around, and we started valueing babying the idiots instead of forcing them to become better players.
Lets exam the issues i wish to address:
1) ranks are goofy right now
2) noat bitching
3) mediocre commanders
Solutions:
1) squad/ cdt tag Or vet mercs
2) noat bitchers probably wont bother transfering servers
3) better teams = more GOOD commanders willing to command
Lets Review.
1) Ranks will never be accurate.
2) People will always bitch on NOAT.
3) There will always be mediocre commanders.
Solutions:
1) Dont make allegiance more elitist then it already is.
2) Noat bitchers will bitch where they can be heard.
3) Better Teams = Better Stacks, and less willing commanders.
I think if we limit a server to tagged players (and find a way to allow merc vets in), stacking will be a non-issue. I generally decide if a team is "stacked" or not by counting how many tagged people are on each team. It's not exact, but it gives a good rough estimate.
The original incarnation of Alleg DID have Adv/Nov settings for servers. I don't think it's elitist in the slightest to want to have adv-only servers. We have been playing this game for 7 years, and we REALLY don't want to have to deal with people who play at the level we were playing at 6 years ago. We're past that, and we want more in our daily game.
Think of it like baseball. Is it elitist to not allow AA teams to play the Yankees?
