You guys do realize that I never intended for the current page code to be used, right? Dorjan was gonna re-code it. But then we decided to make a new page, which he is working on.

Jesus christ, I have no idea why I put up with this @#(! for as long as I did.

Both Bacon and AEM are doing a great job, who the hell cares if it's 1mb? If you wanna nit pick about "good development" go make your own version.

It looks way better than it did, it's a good time to have a new informative page up due to the traffic.

If you have humble suggestions sure, but if you have criticisms, $#@!ing do it yourself. :iluv:

Once again, good job to the people that have been working on this.

Bacon received a metric ton of @#(!, AEM too and normally Id say nada but I really dislike the changes, so much so Im going to speak out. Fwiw If I stumbled on the game Id probably wouldn't download it given that was my first impression.

I, someone who uses the forums on a regular basis, have to scroll down to hit the forum load page... bad
The pics of ships fighting are poorly done, through out (upper left for example)
Each section that describes something over does it for two or three of them and then mish mashes in the rest
The blurb is to long, its not pleasing to the eye, the text is boxed, and the font is a poor choice
The descriptions are long, laid out in column form (like a newspaper) and as someone mentioned run on sentences
Linking to utube makes it seems errrm amateurish
The lay out is built around a video someone may watch one time, and one time only.
It's overly busy, and even garish and the font choice is unpleasant to read
There is absolutely no proof this page is better then the origional in catching and retaining people and what it started out to accomplish iirc.
(There are plenty of tools availible for someone to check if a change (like adding a video) cause more downloads etc.)

Its become a take it or leave it thing, done by a single person, for the most part. Now egos are involved since the trolls have bee busy being trolls :glare: You can't design by committee tbs but the poll is useless imho I havent even voted and dont intend to do it.

If this is the essentially the final desing then no change is the right answer. Please return the page back to its origional form and add a button on it that explains the details of the game including a video.

Ok Ive said my piece. Do with it as you please.

MrC, that is precisely why Dorjan and I decided to make a new page... to be honest I'm not a big fan of what's up there now. It doesn't "flow" really at all. I think my iteration before this one was the best, but I changed it due to the "metric @#(! ton" of complaints I got. I shoulda just kept it.

Again, the one Dorjan is working on (and the one he should be allowed to finish before we make any decisions) is my preferred design.

The more I'm using it the less I'm liking it.

Mehn, I ended up voting AEM on the ASGS poll anyway in spite of my forum post.

I agree with MrChaos.

The Vimeo video player is more classy. YouTube makes everything look cheap.

Okay - whatever you guys do...LEAVE THE FRONT PAGE VIDEO ON YOU TUBE....YouTube is searchranked and popularized by HITS. We want HITS on our website to popularize the most searchable aspects about Allegiance.

Google like Craigslist chases HUMAN traffic through IT'S products and in exchange returns HUMAN TRAFFIC.

Sorry for the caps but I work in Search Engine Optimization and webmarketing, and the future of Allegiance is important to me.

The site looks great btw, I'm glad we have VOLUNTEERS to do this. Those that wish to change it can form a RIVAL faction and submit a rival design.

This post is not meant as a contradiction to my earlier post. These are just some thoughts on the issue:
Striker wrote:QUOTE (Striker @ Dec 14 2009, 09:35 PM) I still need time to read the rest of this thread, but I have another idea. Why not incorporate the ASGS squad page somewhere into this site better? It's so bland and kind of out of the way. We need to show visitors there is an active community. Showing a roster real in-game groups with active players would go a long way.
Striker, I had the exact same idea!

Move the Teamwork tab to be the first tab from the left (since we English speakers tend to read from left to right). This illustrates the most important element of Allegiance gameplay - community, co-ordination, and real-time tactics!
