He didn't want to get the toupe wet?

Besides maybe the US Civil War (and I say maybe because hey lots of Americans were killed), I would agree with your assessment and also add areas of Aisa Pacific.
Besides the US Civil War and some other minor skirmishes, most of the time the US war machine mobilizes and fights in some other country(s).
Because North America is isolated it would be incredibly difficult for an invasion of America in particular and Canada to a lesser degree.
All North Americans should thank your lucky stars we are located where we are located.

Trump: It literally does not matter what Saudi Arabia does, the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

How is it that "*shrug* who knows?" is what goes for a foreign policy these days?

If Clinton were President now I don't think her stance would be much different than Trump's
As Secretary of State she approved arms deals with Saudi Arabia worth billions of dollars.
The Clinton Foundation received upwards of $25 million dollars in donations from Saudi Arabia.
There are also rumours that Bill Clinton may have accepted bribes from The Suadi King.
As well Obama got pretty chummy with the Saudi King and family during his second term in office.
It's all about the oil and the money.
What exactly do you think she would be doing differnetly right now as the President?

That's easy, he didn't join the western bandwagon, which is more or less totally understandable.
