Europeans are very disturbed by patriotism because the line between patriotism and nationalism is easily crossed. And Adept hates america.

Given Europe's recent and extended past along with how the continent is proceeding at present I can understand the general position.

Being a relatively young country and a nation of immigrants the patriotism in this coutry is a wierd mix of pride in where you came from, pride in where your people have gotten to so quickly, and pride in being part of it all. Honestly Adept's up with a united Europe views don't seem that much different to me.

Regarding Adept; Sure there is his natural instinct to cheer when the *insert name of the rich team who always wins over your favorite sports team here* stub their toes but Adept hates authority and "The Man" to the bottom of his soul. Whether true or not he views America in in this fashion and it is this he hates rather than all things American. Unfortunately his good points, and he does have them, tend to be drowned out by the times he acts in knee jerk fashion.

edit: by points I mean those in his post and not Adept the human. Him I like without reservation

Legitimate strike my ass. Japan and Germany were trying to conquer the world and bring it under colonial domination. The USA was minding its own business (other than maybe sending supplies to the good guys) when these @#$%@#s attacked us.

I admit most wars don't have good guys and bad guys. But in this case, if you don't realize who was wearing the white hats in that war you need to seriously re-examine your values.
