I've seen tp1 used to great effect on galving and miner hunting, but most of the time they just go straight to tp2 and fig bombers.

Has any core tried replacing the EW Util/EW Sniper + LRM Hunter combo with something more like a longer range Sniper + SRM Util? Or is that dumb for reasons that aren't obvious to me?

Exp is fun for the reasons Sheff gave. The way we play and size of the games/maps favor exp more than anything else. If we were used to play 30 vs 30 on 20 sector maps then exp wouldn't be as enjoyable as it is now, in its current state.
Do we want 30 vs 30 games on big maps to become the norm? 20 vs 20? If we want to keep playing 20 vs 20 or 15 vs 15 games on medium sized maps then we should balance around that. Wouldn't it be then a case of Exp + Sup + Tac rather than Exp vs Sup vs Tac? We could just use or accept the fact that Exp is more fun, at the current state of the game, and use it as the backbone for the rest of the techs. If you want every tech to have an equal chance of winning, independently, then either start reducing the impact medium sized maps and pilots playing have on Sup and Tac or start playing bigger games. There is a reason it was rare to see a zone game where a team went full exp.
