The problem is that when people are faced to choose between what-has-always-been-here TS and whats-this-Mambo-thing-wtf Mumble, they'll just go with that they know :)

I suspect you've nailed it here. I doubt those who vote for TS have tried mumble, nevermind have it set up and ready to use.

Everyone ive seen in the past couple months has directed newbies to mumble since sia started hosting it. I very much dislike ts3 as its a pain in the ass to set up. Sysx certainly isnt going to go back to ts2, nor will anyone else i'd imagine who has tried both. I'm grateful to aarm for hosting all his @#(! for so long but i really dont see any point in continuing to use an inferior product, and especially advertising so when nobody is even on it anyway

I setup a TS3 server a while back (maybe a year ago?) and posted about it and no one used it at all. My Mumble server gets fairly regular use now and has quite a number of registered users. The quality is SSSOOOO much better than TS2 that I don't use TS2 any more. TS3 was a pain to setup and manage from the server end and aarm has been talking about how TS3 server backend sucks too . .so .. I vote mumble.

We should just use mumble now because so many have switched to it. People are referring newbies to it. It's working, so why make the change and complicate things?

I have only a little experience on TS3. I found it's sound quality to be better (may be due to a high quality codec that isn't practical with 50+ simultaneous users) and easier to set up from a player's perspective than Mumble. (The server side may be more difficult, but it's downright easy for a player to set up - except for the truly technically challenged like Brood). (But he'd still need his Mommy to set up Mumble for him, so what's the diff?) :P

Mumble's quality is better than TS2. I think we all agree on that. However we'd need a dedicated TS3 server to consider it as a viable option as the default. We have one for Mumble (thanks, Sai! ).

I don't really care. I do like TS3 a tad batter, but I'm not going to go fanboy on either one.

I'm a fan of mumble mainly because it works better with my setup than TS2 did. As far as sound quality, I don't care too much. We're not singing opera, we're talking, and I've never had trouble understanding anyone on either TS2 or mumble due to codec/compression issues.

Maybe they were mumbling :P , but I like mumble.

Would be fine to put that on the wiki if it's "official"... :hide:
