The only things that should be forced to update are those that are broken. This ain't broke so don't fix it. There's nothing to stop you from downloading it for yerself.

The only time I have trouble seeing the nan sprites is when they are edge-on (fired at 90 degree angle relative to me). Changing the color wouldn't help there. For that and other reasons, I tend to rely more on things like sound, noticing hull being repaired, and killing every scout in the sector so I don't have to worry about it.
