I haven't been able to play in these games for RL reasons, but I agree w/ Psych and Gui and Void here... I have no desire to log on and play a game against 2 established squads w/ SPQR as my backup. Apologies to SPQR, you guys are awesome for starting a new squad, but if I wanted a game mixed up with new players where I was responsible for explaining to them how to accomplish specific tasks, I'd play a pick-up game. Just because XT is "the best" (which, btw, PK is pretty much neck-and-neck with XT, yet they didn't get paired with the newest squad...) doesn't mean we're all chomping at the bit to play with new folks in our squad games. Quite the opposite, in fact. Call it elitist, call it whatever... but squad games are supposed to be the time when we don't HAVE to worry about new folks and instead can play the game to the best of our ability and enjoy playing with a bunch of vets. This tourney eliminates that ability for us.

Edit: This post is in regards to the earlier implication that even if this squad tourney were not going on, XT would be hard pressed to find the desire to show up for games.

There's two ways you can go then, continue to dwindle and be known as a great squad when in its prime, or recruit those who are not apathetic toward the current "situation" and stay around.

Case example is SysX. There was a real opportunity for it to disappear a while back, but Cable took the reins and started to rebuild, and with barely a small % of the same players it is back in the top ranks of the squads.

I'm not implying or advocating either option, but if your squad in aggregate is getting to the point where it does not want to play the game... such a decision is inevitable.

Yes but I don't recall much of the community kicking SysX while they were down.

But alas XT is of the nature that we can take it.

Anyways, this isn't a thread of how to rebuild XT etc... I think we can handle our own internal affairs quite well, but thanks for the input. Not being sarcastic either.

People were douchebags and wanting an explanation, then giving our guys @#(! for voicing their opinion. I just felt like pointing out how silly they were being.

XT has many, many players who only want squad games, and only log in during squad games. It's been like that for a long time, and this tourney is showing you just how many are like that... we aren't all considering it a true squad game, so "squadgame-only" players aren't showing up... and the results are as you see.

IMO, and I've posted this on the XT forums, but I think XT is perhaps headed for the history books sooner than later. Our playerbase just isn't very active, myself included, and many of our top players simply don't play enough to remain competitive. We have a enough players still active to continue a playable showing, and I'll be back to regularly scheduled squad games at some point, but how long before those players take Shiz's lead or Nak's lead and slowly fade away? 4-5 months ago we have 40+ active members, now we're down to 30 with 3 of us "in the red." That's a HUGE decrease in active players.

XT has been recruiting new players, w/ Drizzo himself being pretty new to the squad, but I can never see this squad accepting new members for the sake of filling out our roster. I think 99% of XT-ers would rather the squad fade away and go down as one of the best squads in the game than turn into the next SysX -- once the top squad in the game, now a middle-of-the-pack presence.

Anyway, this is all just MY opinion and doesn't reflect all of XT's opinions, or even the majority. I'm pretty disconnected from all of this, so the majority of XT might totally disagree with me... this is just how I see it =)

I love that video!

But I'm gonna take a hint from Psych and not talk about XT's affairs publicly anymore =)

edit:

Cashto had a Michael Jackson Eating Popcorn From Thriller .gif... and now it's gone.

This post has been deemed frivolous.

The only one who is demotivating anyone here is you Void and two usual annoying loudmouths. Nice work trying to blame "the community" for it. However you fail craptaculary.
Let's look at this thread shall we?
Two miniscule and completely neutral posts and we have Kumquat mouthing off without any reason whatsoever.
Next, a valid comment of exp only games ensues followed by a post which condones Kumquat mouthing off and actually praises XT for showing up.
The Psyho is rambling as usual actually trying to defend a point, however stupid it is and we have a reaction, no @#(!. Ok, while Kumquat has a "medical condition" as an excuse, I don't know what Psyh's one is. Not only that, but now because someone stood up to stupidty, "people are badmouthing XT". I am sorry Psyh, but it's time for reality check. "People are badmouthing" YOU and KUMQUAT, while prasing XT who have found time (and balls) to go through with the tournament YOU CHOOSE TO PLAY.

However, the worst thing is not Psyho digging even a deeper hole for himself, but Void trying to defend them, instead of giving praise to those who showed and closing the topic. "Look at yourself", "community loves to create drama", "you are calling my guys down and kicking them". WTF Void? It is you who are living in different world and it's obvious to everyone but you. Are we reading the same topic here?! Earth to Void! It can't get any more simple then this, and if you can't grasp it I don't see how XT will have any future with you in the lead.
Frankly Void, Lyko has shown more maturity to lead XT with his two sentences (condoning obvious stupidity and a little encouragement for his teammates) then you did with your entire big post.

I will not even go further and question, why did you even bother signing up XT for this tournament if you knew this was going to happen? Or dozens of other questions you should have been asking yourself anyway, instead of blaming "community".

Anyway, since I am now going to be inevitably branded for "stirring up" drama, I am going to give you your advice Void. "Look at yourself". You even managed to wrap up a failed Aprils fools joke in your post and blame community for how hard it is to be XT SL...
Yeah, most definately, this topic is a liviing testament how "community" can stir drama.
I'll tell you, your last sentence is your best. You should really ask yourself that one more time, before doing what you just did now.

This is 100% true. I've been quite surprised at how patient XT has been with us. I can count the number of times they complained (in game anyway) about our lack of skill on one hand.

Which is great and a point Void should have made (or maybe even shouldn't given certain ammount of modesty) instead of crying about absolutely everything else. However, let's not get carried away here, since MANY squads/players have done a LOT for both new people and squads in general and it is superb that present XT has got in with the program as well. Too bad they still have few regulars clowns "kicking them down" themselves and SL supporting it.

No worries, you added to the shock value of the thread.
