Is it possible to determine how much time is gained or lost every day? Or every week? Or month?

like "it gains 1s every 24hrs" or something?

Syncing with an atomic clock every day is supposed to fix those quirky issues. Have the provider try using a different time server.

It occurs slowly over a period of days.

(Say a minute every couple of days)
