Sandboxing new forum accounts

Back on track...
I think the idea has good intentions but I'm not sure it would work. I like our trial by fire system we have now. Toss em' off the high-dive and tell em' to start swimming. They'll learn fast enough.
Probably the same situation as me. I created an account way back in '04, but couldn't get Alleg to run at the time. I tried again this last January or so and found that with R3, I could finally play the game...so I was a new player with a 2-year-old forum and ASGS account. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />mcwarren4 wrote:QUOTE (mcwarren4 @ Nov 1 2007, 09:54 AM) Newcomer? This is my take, for whatever it's worth. This community is a lot like real life. Take my job for example. There are always politics, There's the ass holes, the boss, those that are really helpful, those that are just loudmouths, etc...I see no problem with the forums, and I don't think it should be changed. Let people say what they want. It's the collective effort that makes this community and game great. If you want to limit the members, you may limit the community.I agree with you Fact, there are a few bad apples, old and new, that ruin it for some. I think we just have to take our lumps. I do have a question though, how is our retention? Are we gaining active members? How do we compare to other MMOG's in recruiting? This game is not for everyone, and this community is not for everyone. Is BV perfect? Not just no, hell no. (I'm treading on thin ice here.) I'm sure he'll be the forst to admit that. Does anyone put more effort into this community than him? I doubt it. The same goes for many others here. I can see that, and it didn't take me long to figure it out. This community is not a democracy. I say let the dictators rule. This game is not free, contrary to what many think. They pay the bills, (time, money, etc...) they make the rules. I can live with them, if the occasional newcomer cannot, let them rant, and then conform or leave. But I think to limit what people have to contribute in the forums would be more of a detriment than a help.
The main difference I see with this community compared to other online games is how small it is and how tightly knit it is. Its hard to find a spot when you're new. Like I said, it's just like real life. You play by the rules and you'll be sucessful and hopefully have fun. My only complaint has been metioned before. The amount of time it can take to find a willing vet commander. I would rather see a voob get pounded, even be on his team, than read useless chat in the lobby.

I created an account 2 years ago, but left after 2 weeks, bevause this community is very horrible at first!
Came back like 3 weeks ago
Note that the community slightly improved in 2 years, certainly because of the cadet ^program and the enforcement rules being enforced
This is the nicest online community I've ever seen.
It's the internet. You shouldn't expect much.

No new guy has ever contributed more then light hearted banter in thier first 2-3 weeks in all the time Ive been here since it takes time for them to be "accepted". If the miracle rookie appears then the admin can let them out of the cage early. I'm afraid the "." personalities will learn nothing.

I think there is no reason for restricting the new players.
Stupid noobposts are quite rare (1 per day or even less?). If a new player does a stupid post and gets some negative reaction he or she usually stops. If some vets don´t want to deal with it, they can ignore it. Nobody is forced to answer any post.
So why should anyone put some extrawork into this project?

We're not forcing anyone to do anything.
However, when a newbie does post a noob post, they don't just post one, they post tens.
