I want one sided res that hits the sector you are in only, for tac. Imagine the sb decamping for the rest of the team.

Back in the old days, we kept trying to come up with ways to help break camps. One idea I kept playing with was an "aleph destabilizer". It would be a missle like the aleph resonator, except that its effect would be to briefly (~30 seconds) move the exit points on both sides of the aleph (the entrance wouldn't move but ships entering the aleph would exit somewhere other than the aleph in the target sector). The exit point would be chosen randomly each time the aleph got destabilized (and would always be significantly farther from the origin than the original aleph but more or less along the same bearing).

It would still be a two edged sword (though there is no reason it couldn't come in a one sided version as well). If the other side entered the aleph while it was destabilized, they'd be able to avoid your camp as well.

It died the death of time and budget constraints (codewise, it was fairly trivial but the art costs -- voice alerts, different aleph art to show a destabilized aleph, etc. -- were enough to kill it).

An aleph destabilizer like that would have been fun, but in my opinion, there's nothing wrong with camped alephs. People just builds their ops 5k from the enemy sectors, don't deprobe and then prays that it's not camped, i don't think we need to help these people. However, I still think a 1 sided aleph resonator could be fun.

sorry i changed the version again /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

http://drooky.free.fr/dracula/ICE321.zip

new in 3.21:

- blast power for missiles (will work with R4 code only)

new in 3.20:

- one side aleph rez (will work with R4 code only)

These new core features are backward compatible with R3, so you can use this version for R3 cores too (just that is you set a one side aleph rez or a missile blast, it'll do nothing in R3).

I like this idea. I think it would not terribly affect gameplay for two reasons. 1) camping interceptors 2-3k from the aleph are not all that much less effective than those camping the aleph. They'll just boost in as you fly through and start chewing you up. It's an advantage to the attackers for sure, but not as much as you'd think. 2) campers could fly through the aleph at res time and own your @#(!.

That's why it needs to use the same warning and animation as the 2-sided res, so that anyone wanting to do this would be making a big gamble.
