Don't worry Euler, no one is born learnt, you will learn playing, reading and playing more, it's life and this game isn't easy to catch, and when you think you know something you will realize all you've got still to learn.

also, since you are making posts like this, people who read the forums will realise you are a good newbie and will be more willing to help you in game /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

And for what it's worth, the simple fact that you came here for clarification on what happened and how to avoid it next time, as opposed to something like.
"OMG, Why did u boot me? I waznt doing nothn wrong. You vets stink, always picking on us noobz."
Has earned you a ton of credibility. I have no doubt that you'll continue to learn the ropes and become another pilot in good standing around here.
And as a mental note to the comms, if it looks like there are a lot of newbs playing, perhaps we should try to avoid the IO style maps, ounce of prevention and all.
EDIT: Damn, too slow on the draw.

IB, you're nuts. Remember when you were a newbie? It wasn't that long ago. I would basesit a lot just trying to figure out what's going on. I think most of those reasons for booting newbies are horribly invalid.
They're people, man. Mostly nice people. Trying to play a game. You don't have an excuse to wave the bootstick just to make yourself feel better.

Some bbr pilots run out of missiles without using ABMs against enemy ships. /wub.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":iluv:" border="0" alt="wub.gif" />

How you justify booting a newbie for flying into the middle aleph is beyond me, if you get your garrison raped at 5 minutes because you chose not to ensure that the middle was probed, you deserved it. Boot as many people as you like, it won't cover up the fact that you didn't have the savvy to see the middle was unprobed and designate someone to fix the problem.
That isn't an insult, it's one of those facts that have been mentioned, @#(!ty commanders (like me) don't notice half of the things when commanding that we do when we are flying, and we try and cover it up with bull@#(! like:
5:35: "WTF didn't anyone probe the $#@!ing middle you $#@!ers, have a $#@!ing random boot, because I didn't realise it was unprobed either"
The correct sequence of events would be more like:
1:30: "Middle has no probes, who has it?"
*static*
1:31: "Gotta_whore_tospam_top_kills_post_game probe the middle please"
*static*
1:31:10 Gotta_whore_tospam_top_kills_post_game has been booted from team competent commander
1:32: "Ninja_Prober_07@RT probe the $#@! out of the middle for me please"
1:32:02 'rm
If you are unfortunate enough not to have someone from RT on your team, just keep designating mid-level wannabes until your team roster is depleted if necessary, then resign. obviously you do all this whilst planting cons, nanning your home miners, buying tech, etc, etc, and make it all look effortless, because that's what aarm, and Weed, and MadAcc, and spidey, and all the other commanders people want to fly for do. If you find yourself blaming your team EVERY time you lose, and still blame them after reflecting on the game for twenty minutes, do something less stressful than commanding, don't vent on the rest of us, we just want to have fun.
Good comms boot when they have to, mediocre comms boot because they seem to think it makes them look like good ones.

i have to share this story because I was entertained (and panicked). Names changes to protect the guilty.
Yesterday I buy a 2nd techbase and let it plant in my home.
Except that after 3 minutes, it isn't planted. I am perplexed. I look at my home.
To my horror, I see my tech con lined up at the rock, going backwards(? !). A fig is parked directly in front of it with autopilot on. As the fig creeps forward, the con creeps backward.
Me to *******(4): WHAT ARE YOU DOING
*******(4): I'm following the con
Me: That's the front. You're pushing it backwards. Please move.
*******(4): Oh...sorry
No hard feelings. I'm laughing about it now -- it reminds me of some of the dumb things I did when I was a newbie (like boosting everywhere because I didn't think teleporting was authentic).

*hangs head*
yep that was me again.
*sigh*
So I was thinking to myself, "hmm a new constructor. lets follow it in order to; see where it goes, defend it if necessary and see what kind of base shows up when it is done. " so in the command screen I right click on the constructor thinking I am giving myself the defend order. Next I note that the constructor has flown right past the rock it looked like it was heading toward. At just the moment I start to get confused Clay comes over the team speak (I always have it running in hopes that someone might say something relating the game I am in) with "EULER! GET OUT OF THE WAY!"
That will teach me to trust the autopilot!
