I'd pay 50/m just to have enough players to have 5-10 games running at once.

I pay 150 a month just to get broadband, otherwise I am stuck with 40 kbps dial-up that drops often.
I think the fee KGJV is talking about would be to support the servers and NOT make a profit. If anything close to a profit was approached we'd be violating the release agreement. Even for an Alleg 'like' game, the MS 'guys' take a pretty broad interpretation on their trade marks and copyrights, neither of which they have relinquished.
That aside, I'd guess MS would not care if a free version was released, if it meant more Xbox360 sales.
Personally, I'd rather see the effort go into cleaning up the current code but I can see the allure of a new dev platform rather than digging around in old and moldy code.
I for one dislike console games, but that is a personal preference.

I would personally rather spend the money it would cost to purchase a XBox 360 to upgrade my PC.
I hate console games and especially disklike the controllers.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.
Geometry Wars is the only game worth playing on the 360. Mass Effect and Allegiance 2.0 are the only 2 that may change my mind in this regard /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Screw the X-Box, port it to PS3 (after you've studied for 4 years on how to program anything efficiently on that monster /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> ) Online play is free for the PS3 so our poor students don't have to pay the $50 per year. Imagine how many voicechats you can fit on blueray disc? Or how many Lima pictures as a bonus /wub.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":iluv:" border="0" alt="wub.gif" />
Add PS3 to the vote /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

So, 12 years worth of Xbox subscriptons up front is supposed to be easier on the pocketbook?
