Not that I know of. But I have heard that fire in space acts/looks like a liquid.

Yes, but those flames act differently due to the magnetic lines that effect them. See here:

i just made one

its got a shockwave in it
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdNz2oSFJw8

i can e-mail a .zip of it if anyone wants it.

p.s. can anyone suggest a good program to make these in?

the program i made it in exports things as ether single images 512*512, or 4*512 images wide and n*512 images tall or .avi

problem is alleg needs these n*512 wide and 512 tall,

so i take the 4*512 wide and n*512 tall image and cut it and place them all in a line.

problem is my version of fireworks wont let me edit anything wider than 10000px 30*512 = 15360, so they don't all fit on
gimpshop crashes if i try to set the canvas size to 15360

ms paint (FTW!) works, but since fieworks cuts it off at 10000 px when copying, i need to paste 2 things into paint, then align them manually by eye, this is very tedious.

can anyone point me to a program that will let me have a big canvas, or a program that;

reads a .bmp 2048px wide and n*512 tall (where n = image height/512), cuts the bmp every 512 px down and places the strips of 2048*512 px next to each other and then exports the .bmp as a (n*2048)*512 .bmp

that would be really useful if we could get them in a movie format, perhaps contact the guy who hosted them whether he can e-mail us the originals (if he compiled that from many) or just the original video of those.

oh, btw

Looks just a tad bit cartoony to me. Maybe there is a little too much of that blue? Or maybe it is too symmetrical?
Apparently a California "cabin" is any place more than 4 blocks from a McDonalds.

i was going for the star wars deathstar explosion shockwave

the blue is only there for short time, but i did think there was a little bit too much of it. (i think, cant remember, it wasn't too bad in game, but maybe a little much, the explosions happen so fast its hard to get a good screen shot)

though i really need a good way to put the rendered files in a line

For some reason the blueish one spoke to as a mine explosion....It might not be so cartoony if there were a bunch of them going off inside a minefield.

And does anyone know of an animation tutorial and/or the stuff needed to create these explosion animations?

see the images i posted here
http://www.freeallegiance.org/forums/index...ost&p=63980

those are the default explosion textures,

see how they are all 64 px high, every frame in the animation is 64*64px, there is a new frame every 64px, all the frames are lined up next to each other in the order
1 2 3 4 5 6 ...

basically choose a size for your explosion, we seem to be working in 512*512
then choose how many frames you want to have (lets say n frames) - note n cannot be more than 30 at 512*512 aparrently

in your graphics program set the canvas size to be (n*512) wide and 512px high

every 512 px there will be a new frame, draw your explosion in the middle of each 512 px square

i'm going to have a go making one that does a small explosion that then implodes then explodes bigger (like in that video) in 3ds max

here's what i've done so far (only just started)
