Because, again, any reasonable laywer would beable to connect Thalgor the server operator with Thalgor the web admin. The parent wanting to file on behalf of their kid simply needs to hire the right lawyer and say "I want to sue this game". Laywer does his homework, the rest follows.

As it stands, doesn't matter how meritless the suit is. We could have a EULA that pops up every time you log in with ASGS stating that you're aware the online environment is not guarenteed to be moderated at all times. It still wouldn't matter, because it's simply the act of having to defend that is the problem. It's costly.

Trying to present FAO and the game as a faceless entity won't present much of a barrier to a frivolous lawsuit.

Lag isnt really that huge an issue if its just for matchmaking service.

If thalgor doesn't make himself out to be 'the administrator' he would cease to be one, he would merely be the guy who happens to host a program which performs client/server matchmaking.

And would still be the one targeted by spurious lawsuits.

If that's the case, then there is certainly nothing preventing them now.

Which is why people are asked to keep away from topics which are likely to attract spurious law suits.

If it is truly a spurious lawsuit, then it doesn't matter what is said on the servers because the charges are not genuine.

the point is, if there are going to be spurious lawsuits thrown at an innocent third party (Thalgor), then even a rediculous amount of censorship isn't going to stop them.
