Spunk, what error are you getting?
Can you post Ethereal captures with the filter "host fazdev.alleg.net" ?

OK, I played a Deathmatch with Zapper@GB on FAZDev server.

A number of issues (i'm not sure if they're related to NAT or not) ocurred during the game.

1. My booster sounds went off after a short period of playing.

2. Zapper was extremely laggy, I assume I may have been as well? My ping was 40, but my sync was 0. (Possibly just a server related problem?)

3. There was no launch animation (I'm guessing that was intended).

4. One time I boosted to enter my base, and as I left I was still boosting (pressing tab again stopped the automatic boosting).

5. I could not see Zapper even when he was eyed by my base (we were on brawl). I was in an interceptor, and I could not see his ship until my interceptor spotted it itself (either with the default scan range or with a pulse probe). I could see his ship on the minimap and he told me he was eyed, but I could not see his ship until my interceptor itself saw the ship.

On the VERY good side.... The game started seemlessly and ended seemlessly (with a resign) without dropping me or Zap once-- despite how laggy it was.

I asked to Zapper if he wanted to check the lag on Spunk's server, but he said it had crashed him when he tried to join it, so I didn't attempt it.

Hope this helps! I'm very willing to take part in any larger scale test games whenever they might occur.

md, you rock man... that fixed the registry errors (the regsvr32 dpnet.dll thing).

I still cannot connect though. Instead of giving me the "Cannot connect to lobby" message instantly, it tries to connect for about 10 seconds, then tells me.

Failed to connect to lobby. My Dplay is fine, although i can try a reinstall i guess..

So my server isn't on the lobby? That's weird too - from my end it looks connected and running just fine.

Will post captures when I can.

I cannot connect to the lobby from my office, but I CAN connect with a game like EVE (the only game I have tried from my office) so I know with the right settings/code it can be done.

The big unknown for me (but hopefully not for others on the dev team) is what needs to be done to get it to work for the widest possible audience.

It is clear we have picked up a few, like Paradigm2, but Spunky and TheBored are still locked out as am I (from the office). mdv could also get in but he has control of his router, those on campus won't.

Keep posting your personal experience and if you can connect or not. And if you have have TWO machines behind your NAT please try both, preferably at the same time.

At the moment ranks are turned on which may slow things down login a bit.

The dplay8 'branch' was made from an early R2 so there are mix of things in there and a few bugs.
Of note are a shortened launch animation, the 'old' rank lookup, and likely the 20% sig bug.

NOTE to para post:
I'm laggy(lag 300+).. someone is DL in my house... It could affect para spotting me but i launch with 200 sig so he should have a 800m scan range in a int.

I could hear Para's booster and he could hear my booster.

I crashed when i tryed to join Spunk's server after i got the "Joining mission...."

I found out why i lagged... my router was clocked with alot of open ports.. After I rebooted the router, it went back to normal, now its fine and i got a normal lag.

What NAT/router setup are you behind (to the best of your knowledge)?
i.e. I am on campus, I am on an office network, I am on a home network,
I have port triggering turned on.

I only want this info for those THAT CANNOT connect to regular Alleg and either can or cannot connect to the dplay8 version.

Paradigm2 (and DasSmiter?) can connect. What is your situation?

TheBored and Spunky cannot connect. What is your situation?

Doggy I can connect to regular alleg just fine.
