Lykourgos wrote:QUOTE (Lykourgos @ Dec 18 2007, 11:54 AM) we wouldn't rate the 16000 people that log in every year, we would rate the (generous estimate) 500 current vets and then update once very few months. you also wouldn't need to do every single relationship because we're human and we can quickly sort into broad categories.
I'm playing devil's advocate here, as I know you are, but am I the only person to sense some disparity between 'truly accurate' and 'ignore 96.875% of the community'?

You are almost definitely not the only person and looking at leaderboard I think it's more like 50%-ish I'd say. This method has flaws like anything else but I still think it would be the most accurate way over all of ranking people when fleshed out
I'm sorry I don't remember any of it. For you the day spideycw graced your squad with utter destruction was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Sunday

Out of the 16000 players we can comfortably dump a good 13357 as those are people that have played less than 25 games and would be pretty much impossible to rank anyway.
Now using Baker's formula that makes n = 3222. K = 2 so C = 5,189,031
So a mere 5.1 million votes would be required. That's just over 180 days of voting at 8 hours a day and 1s per vote. Easy /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
Spidey: Can't think of a reason I'd need to know anything
spideycw wrote:QUOTE (spideycw @ Dec 17 2007, 05:15 PM) Think of all the little voobs who probably think of McW as a lovely whitewashed figure...they would make him one of the top 20 players. Now those of us in the know will remember that McW should ALWAYS be #1 no ifs ands or buts due to the actions of Mrs. Meridth McWarren!
I'll be sure and tell her that she has inspired thousands to finally come to their senses and have me voted into the Allegiance Hall of Fame.... and I don't care what any of you think, I did NOT use steroids and even if I did my alleged steroid use would NOT have enhanced my gameplay.
I take it this isn't included non-active comms?
b/c we all know I'd be div 1 /glare.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":glare:" border="0" alt="glare.gif" />
Where am I on your list? There will be no more gay love for you after this heinous omission !! /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" /> *Sniff, sniff*
You have some of the worst comms in alleg on that list and if sucking was a criterium then I deserve to be on there too /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
Three year bump for justice. This needs to be severely updated to reflect current trends. In fact I'm pretty sure Spidey is the only person on this list who still plays Allegiance.
