Ah well, I love exploring new things anyways.

Bought.

I love some of the vids on youtube, and like the complexity of managing the ship's systems, shutting down for low sig...

See you in-game!

C'mon, xix... Let's form a wing and gang up on little kids

Btw, how's the West treating you, DR?
Rock Paper Scissors.

Silent Running is next to useless in PVP, shields are the meta and it causes you to drop shields. Just pop heat sinks and you go down to 0% heat sig.
System management is a very minimal thing in PVP. 4 Pips shields, 2 weapons = meta. That's about it unless you need to pop some pips into engines to move faster. I've been trying to spice things up with my Diamondback Scout build that runs 2 pips engines and 4 weapons, basically plays like an int in an attempt to sidethrust away from getting hit. Would work nicely if Shield Cell Banks didn't exist.

Feel free to give me an add. Same in-game name. I'm usually hanging out with the usual scum and villainy, Code and Cosmic State over in Delaine's space.

Edmonton is nice, I'm about 20 minutes East in a place called Sherwood Park. Actually, a Code boss lives in Edmonton. Might head out and have a beer with him sometime. He's about Firestorm's age.

I've been too busy to play anything too mentally demanding. If I'm not working, I'm getting my Correctional Training Program recertified, trying to renew my license, or checking in with doctors for numerous reasons (I'm not dying, I just need medical notes for a @#(! ton of things). All in all, I just won't have time to sit down and play some Alleg until I get my life sorted out and have some semblance of stability. It's easy to pick up and drop other games, but Alleg is something that doesn't satisfy me unless I'm there from start to end.

I also hear there's a big Smash Bros community over at one of the Uni's. :iluv:

Commander John Smallberries, reporting!

Combat feel is @#(!, who came up with that lousy yaw @#(!? I like the action on the various missiles, need to try the prox, I mean mine launcher :)

Meanwhile the computer flies circles around me and without gimbals it takes forever to pop anything, nevermind I find myself constantly backpedalling to keep a target in view. THEY seem to change direction a hell of a lot faster...I've figured out that pitch is faster, and of course the throttle range...but still I feel gimped compared to the computer ships.

Got a gimballed cannon and laser now so that'll help.

Like the feel of navigation and in system flight, cruise....music needs more variety...

Generally pleased, and scared for all the time I am about to waste

PVP gets better and is a bit more diverse than "load gimballs and backpedal". Not by much.

Fixed weapons are 20% stronger than gimbs and can't be chaffed.
Mines suck, missiles suck. Grab two fixed pulses and you'll be fine.

I played this game over the last month and have pretty much stopped... a mile wide and an inch deep. The yaw/pitch differential makes absolutely no sense and is only an annoying wrinkle they tried to make in the gameplay.

Agreed. There's much room for inprovement, but it is fun with a group of people. This is why player groups are so prevalent in the community. The player groups have taken it upon themselves to generate RP style content within the sandbox.

TBH combat was tedious in frontier, and Elite itself, so perhaps it isnt that much of a surprise that its a bit bad in this.

The exploration is top notch though, if they can get a community doing what Eve's has then this will be alright.

Cmdr. Magnificent Otter is currently poking about about 1200 ly from Sol, below the empire, following the trail of some wonderful newb who only scans down the main star of any given system.

Well, 1 week in and I still want to throttle all the people who like the yaw nerf, but I've noticed that there is a really strong contingent of players who think somehow having 3D dogfighting would ruin the game. Still, lots to do. Playing with mouse though, I find most of any combat is circle flying and trying to aquire a target, usually when you do they are just boosting past you. Have tried fixed weapons and completely given up, maybe with a HOTAS I could maintain that level of aim, but I'm wearing a track in my desk pitching nonstop. Flying a miner cobra that functions as my all rounder and am almost done tricking up a diamond back scout for a long range fighter... will be spending some time in enemy faction space ganking ai ships.

Have tried everything but proper trading, piracy and exploring. Mining and res farming are nearly equal in pay for me. Next purchase are a Vulture to try some real fun combat, and an Asp for some real trading.

Bhotho has pristine metallic mining and a fairly close base, if anyone is into that. I pull about 400k/hour there in my cobra, would be more in a better ship.

I res farm Wolf 906. Has a nice base with pretty much all upgrades, close to 3 resource extraction points. About 400k/hour there too. Are there hotter RES somewhere?

Haven't played alleg in a week...will have to log back in this weekend for some proper flying. I've been broadly telling everyone on forums there to just check out alleg and see some real dogfighting. Anyone feel like +1ing my posts, we might draw some ppl...
