I'm really trying not too be, I've tried to contain my frustration and have occasionally vented especially as regards to people who slight my ideas for the simple pleasure that they enjoy being negative or because of their dislike of them or me. Honestly I realize that people don't have to agree with me, just like I don't have to agree with them. Anyone should have the right to express their opinion.HSharp wrote:QUOTE (HSharp @ Dec 14 2007, 02:27 PM) And jgb I used to respect you, think you were a nice guy and all that but what you seem to be posting in this thread seems utterly chidish...
That's what all this is about, opinions. There is no fact that any system we use will be able to express certainty that it will take into account 'how I am terming (in part) experience'. Let's be realistic, for example there are many people saying that humainty is causing Global Warming, that may well be the case and there is much data to support that conclusion, it is not a fact by any means. The same can be applied to other "truths" we believe, that there is anything beyond our solar system, that there is a god, or the very idea that gravity works like it does.
The invasion of Iraq last decade, many Americans were 100% certain that it was just and reasonable... and even if Iraq had weapons of mass destruction (wmd's btw can be created in less than a month for a third world nation, or bought in days), even if Iraq did have nukes there was still a very clear process of International Law that was broken. My point is, no matter how much evidence or how strongly belief is... one way or another it can all mean the same as a banana cream pie, very tasty but not always good for you.
Am I correct in my thoughts on AllegAge (or time-in game) is different then a rating system, I might be, it can't be proven for certain that I'm right or wrong, beause it's not a fact that Helo/Elo/TrueSkill/AllegSkill takes it into account... it's all fuzzy. Could it be that AllegSkill will do a good enough job that it won't make a huge difference- that's possible, Baker isn't a fool, he's worked extremely hard and put a lot of thought into it... it's quite reasonable to say that my concerns are nothing to worry about... I still have the legitimate right to voice them.
If anyone was unduly offended by my comments, then accept my apologies if you care to, as they're sincerly offered.
I still maintain my right to disagree with peoples opinions from time to time... or not. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
