Oh please. I know administrative decisions can seem harsh at times but seriously... that thread won't be going anywhere (and you know it too :glare: ).

If you are such a coding genius, you are welcome on the dev team... seriously. They need as much help as they can get.

So OMB, can I root your radiology machines?

As a professional you must know that if you accept substandard code you will pay for it again and again down the road. Picky administrators are required for quality code. Look at the Linux kernel: a whole cabal of guys who will skin your ass if you submit something sub-par. That's what it takes to make things work. And it is doubly called for in an online game where over time many different folks will want to try to crack the system.

I didn't read the first eight/nine pages of this thread because I know what it contains. But I just had to respond to Y_P's post about the stat system and OMB's crap.

Y_P man, I respect you. I really do. We've had good conversations on IRC.

But I see you haven't learned from your mistakes. Your not testing your code or checking for exploits caused one of the "deaths" of Allegiance. We can spend all out time arguing about the what ifs and why fors of the impact your MA chatpack mod had on the Allegiance timeline, but it was entirely your fault. You may have spent the rest of your life fixing the fallout from that one little MDL file, but it remains your mistake.

Then, years later, after many people have spent their personal money and time keeping this thing running, you come here and whine again about TE/Pook not using your code. Turns out it had more security holes in it than swiss cheese.

<rant>
And OMB, to quote one of your brothers in arms, go die in a couch fire. What have you done to keep Allegiance alive? What have you done EVER other than waste people's time and bandwidth with your drivel? If you have no idea about what happens behind the scenes, I suggest you STFU.

I really don't want to post here, but OMB has posted some untruths about Allegiance, Linux and the admin's position on the point.

The admins have stated that they would look at a means of getting ASGS to work in Linux provided that at some point in time Allegiance can be made to run in Linux. This is a perfectly reasonable approach. Get it to work (at a playable state - ie: the biggest hurdle) then they'd look at accommodating it. Those who have had success in getting it to run have done so only in a minimal way. ie it runs a bit, but is far from being in a state that could be considered "playable".

I tried running Allegiance in Linux with wine and it was a big fail. Some have run it for a bit, but were unable to do much. Nothing so far that warrants the creation of a linux asgs.

I'm pretty sure that I saw at least two (#)'s today were certainly not newbies.

Usually though, "skill" is used to covertly mean "match the game exactly to my level of competence." Anyone who is at all worse than me should fail utterly (and humorously!) and anyone better is clearly too caught up in the game and their opinions shouldn't count.
