Why don't more people play this game?

+1 to Djole being good. There is a small chance you caught him at 4 in the morning his time after drinking and maybe he said some stuff that wasn't 100% nice. But in general my experience with Djole is that he is nice and helpful to new people.

I say give him, and Alleg, another shot.

DJole is Correct :ninja:

But actually quite frankly this community, aside from a couple of really bad apples (one of which has been perma'd and most of the others have mellowed out over the years), tends to be full of people who are a lot kinder than those you'd experience in League of Legends, etc.

edit: p.s. Djole I know your name isn't "Dole" but I think of you as "that pineapple guy."

Personally I haven't seen the "poisonous personalities" that have been mentioned. Maybe I've just started playing at a time when those people have left (as someone stated) but most people here are pretty reasonable and nice to new players. There IS the occasional comm snapping at his newbs (I remember Thall yelled at me one time in a PUG for being @#(!ty, but then apologized after I agreed with him.) but I haven't seen much flesh-tearing comments either here or in-game. Maybe I've just been lucky.

However the argument that the grass is browner is ridiculous; that's an argument against the other games, not an argument for ours. You cannot justify evil by claiming the world is more evil, at least not without being deluded. But again, I've been treated pretty well by the community so I can't really see where you guys are coming from.

I can however see why some of these toxic people can persist in a game like this, since the community is so small any ban-action is going to have a big effect, especially if the banned player is a vet. Taking out 3 people in a group of 50 is felt a lot more than taking out 3 from a group of 50 000.

I'm all for competitiveness, it makes the adrenaline pump a little more but we can at least show good sportsmanship and be civil to each other. But then, this the internet; Gott ist tott.

I just came in to lol at shiha's sig.

Anyways, if you cant stand to some bad mouthing, you pretty much don't play online. Fighting for the biggest e-penises happens everywhere. Its how you deal with them that matters.

Shihab: the argument being made is that Allegiance is not popular because the community is so toxic. There are more popular games with more toxic communities, ergo, this community's toxicity can't be what's preventing its popularity.

Communities not that toxic anymore. When I'm the epitome of toxicity you're probably doing okay. Also lol @ white owl calling djole hostile. There's a lot of things djole isn't, good at this game for example - but he's also definitely not hostile. If anything that was pretty hostile by you owl, I don't know how I'd feel about someone as hostile as you flying with me and hurting my sensitive feelings. Internet strangers have always been so impressionable on me :(

There's only one person I'd ever say deserved the label of "toxic", but he's permabanned now. (And as far as I can tell the community has had a bit of a rebound since then, so it's definitely something that affects the size of our player base. Of course the squad reboot happened about the same time, and that had an impact too).

There's a number of very elitist players, and they can be overbearing at times, but nothing new there.
White Owl wrote:QUOTE (White Owl @ Sep 10 2014, 04:32 AM) Case in point, quod erat demonstrandum. Djole88, I do not want to play any games with you, personally. You seem like a very hostile person, and it would make me angry to play a game with or against you. You, Djole88, are directly and personally part of the reason more people don't play this game.
Oooh oooh. Can I be part of the cancer that's killing Allegiance too?

lukass wrote:QUOTE (lukass @ Sep 10 2014, 06:58 AM) Your videos also gave me an idea (more likely reanimated) of getting more people on this game. As I tried to suggest later, I think Youtubes Let's play is quite widespread and we could use it in our advantage. I had an idea but I can't realize it myself.
I think if we asked one of the Let's players to make video about Alleg it would definitely lured many ppl in here.
Problem is, that I am not very good at speaking in english and it would be great if someone, who can explain what's needed, would accept this role.
I can participate in this by finding suitable Let'splayers. For example: http://www.facebook.com/AchievementHunter with 2.8 mil subs. What do you think community?
I posted to that site...and am continuing to look for similar ones.
