Can we even handle 20-30k new people? We don't have the capacity for it now.

mach is still ultimately only a euro server. it's really no surprise we've been dropping player numbers when more than half the population has less than perfect pings

Anyway, marketing is usually confused with selling. I would say dealing with people is the least of its activities.
As for Facebook and Twitter, I am not too sure of its effectiveness for reaching new people, but no harm can come out of using it.
I can volunteer to help as well. Have no knowledge in web design or internet tools, but can help translate/spell check advertizement material to spanish if you need.

Just did a test search in Google for "free multiplayer game space", and alleg gets listed in 26.
There is also, in position number 13, a youtube video of the opening video of the game. When you use "space free multiplayer game", the listing jumps to #4. Comments on the video date from a year ago, and aren´t very positive (well... it is true that the game actually has nothing to do with the video). It could be a good starting point to start posting positive reviews in this video, and try do divert people to try go to the game webpage (don´t know the youtube policy on posting websites, but it could be an indirect reference such as "Search for Free Alleg").

LOL. Comment from the video I mentioned above.
"allegiance is lame. You have some jackass as this "commander" position controlling every aspect of the game and not doing @#(! for you and they whine and bitch the entire match then ban you when you say anything or you laugh as you take down an enemy craft. Yes ban you from ALL servers, your entire damn IP. Its ran by a bunch of $#@!tard noobs.

EDIT: Fortunately somebody made damage control at that moment (This is something actually quite important, monitoring the posts in the high listing places):
"Sounds like you just flew for a noob commander. The game is awesome when you have a decent one.
You can have up to 3 callsigns on your account. Being booted by the commander only kicks the callsign you were logged in with and only for the rest of that game.
So just log back in with another callsign and join the other team

My YouTube video page
When I search for "free space game" , I mostly get hits for Freespace on YouTube.

I included "multiplayer". Actually, even the order of the words render different results.
Maybe somebody can tell me. If people search for "free multiplayer game space", and afterwards go and click on the Free Allegiance site, does this (infinitesimally) increase the standing of the web page towards those search words?

God knows what google is doing but I don't believe so.
Make sure you log out of your google account before any searches.
