When's the last time you've actually run out of air in a pod? I think the limited air is just for noobs who're too confused to get back to base. We should consider reducing it to 3 minutes.

I always pk 0's and 1's if my team isn't about to bomb.

There is no need to reduce air in pods when you can simply fly out of bounds and die.

Moreover, this is just another "Tweak" that pushes Allegiance closer to a 1v1 game. Stop addressing the symptoms and cure the problem instead.

So I'm going to ignore the rest of the silly discussion here and talk about evidence from the option being on. This was just fine in a game we played yesterday until we grew too large for the option. We started at about a 3 v 3 and it got as large as 10 v 10. Bombers can kill things but it's pretty difficult. This makes HTTs and SBs stronger due to the stealth garnered by cloaks and sig GAs. So the only concern I have with this is that it makes Sup pretty weak while making an already strong Exp stronger. However, Tac is just as strong against Exp in this manner so... The interesting thing is that Sup typically is stronger with a larger team. Sup in this scenario only has an artificially larger team to work with so is not correctly balanced. The same thing would probably happen with SY.

tl;dr

Sup is adversely affected by Pods Off. Exp and Tac are fine. SY we're not sure about.

Speaking as a newbie myself, I think it's important to keep pods in small games.

I remember when I first started playing SC2 online, and I was playing in the practice league. It basically stops players from zerg rushing and other cheesy tactics but it completely retarded my growth in the game. When it came time to play the actual SC2, I got cheesed all the time in bronze, and wasn't able to really pick up the real game until a couple of months later.

I understand you're in a small, tight-knit community where every new player/personality represents a great deal of potential, but if they don't like having to crawl back to base or find another player they're gonna be lost or hate it when it comes to the large scale battles. Furthermore, it establishes a mindset where they don't have to be watching the UI for that "podded" icon, thereby neglecting to teach them one of the more important aspects of the game.

I come from a "Playing to Win" background, so my viewpoint is skewed in that respect. But speaking from experience, not just SC2 but my old online game, it's better to let the newbies have a trial by fire and find they're made of sterner stuff, than allow them to become noobs and become essentially a non-player.

Besides, being podded allows you to spend time figuring stuff out. I certainly put my 10 poddings to use this afternoon. ^_^

I used to turn off pods when I commanded small games. As already explained in this thread it makes small games less dull. Especially for the noobs, who spend a disproportionate amount of time in pods.

I also recommend podkilling noobs whenever possible to send them back to base and get them back into the game faster.

podtime for newbies is an enriching and rewarding experience... what better time to call their attention when they arent busy running from some newbie killing voob and tell them how to not get podded next time? i like pods.. they have nothing better to do and are FORCED to listen to you...
