Maybe the best solution is to create a pinned post, that says: "NEWBIES, POST HERE 10 TIMES TO ACTIVATE FULL FORUM PRIVILEGES". Spam-bots won´t understand it anyways, and everyone happy...

In response, let's not make solutions to problems that we don't know exist in the first place ;)
If you don't think player retention is a problem, then I'll respectfully disagree. Like I already said, the ability to PM a new player (who should receive an email notification prompting them to log into the site and check out their forum account) would be very useful for AFS staff, and would be a step in the right direction for making players become a part of the community.

Even better would be if forum accounts and ASGS/ACSS accounts were integrated together (so you would make one account for both), but that would require a bit of messing around with the forum software at minimum.
I do have ACSS supporting IP.Connect for integrated accounts, but the IP.Connect side is incredibly weak on fault tolerance. IP.Connect is a system that practically designed to break at the drop of a hat, and would lead to a lot of extra manual maintenance for TE. Basically, it will not send account info changes to all the connected systems if the connection is broken for any reason, the change is lost.

So, you change your forum password, and if ACSS or the network between the two is down for any reason, then your change does not come to ACSS. Then someone (TE) would have to manually resync your accounts.

That's just a train wreck waiting to happen.

So, this feature is done, but turned off until Invision can make a decent, fault tolerant version of IP.Connect for us.

I remember being unable to apply to ACS because I didnt have 10 forum posts

Still ready to teach anyone who asks nicely whatever they want to know about playing alleg. Contrary to popular opinion I do not eat newbies. Voobs taste much better.

I wonder how many things would be solved with a forum upgrade/change  .

Stop making our community discussion public, and the discussion about is redicolous as a World War. Why you ask me? I do say crop off the $#@!ing paypal option to create a blog (as it once was), start motivating to write the blog as beloved dog, child, or cat (as they to be) ... make that public for search engines.

Someone a question, pack your knee then. "I do not believe in computers!"

This issue has been fixed. Log off and take a look. Forum doesn't look dead anymore.

Guest are able to see more forums.Guest are able to read News forum.Guest are able to read Helpline forum.Guest are able to read New Pilots forum.

Next stop will be implementing an IPB mod, to avoid spam registrations. But first I have to learn a bit more about IPB, I really don't like it... Why must everything so 'complicated'...

The history of open-source Allegiance is paved with the bodies of dead code branches, forum flame wars, and personal vendettas. But a community remains because people still love the game.

Finally, $#@!ing thank you.

We need to figure out why the Wiki is getting screwed Google-wise too.

I would actually open up more forums though. Especially Gameplay and General.
