I hated how long some of those missions were, especially THAT one with the massive sphere of ion cannon frigates.

QUOTE Do you suppose you could direct me on where to get started on configuring and testing something like this? Any "Core development for dummies"?[/quote]
Configuring: http://www.freeallegiance.org/FAW/index.php/ICE
Testing: http://www.freeallegiance.org/FAW/index.php/LAN

Note that the info on setting up a LAN is out of date.

Usually though, "skill" is used to covertly mean "match the game exactly to my level of competence." Anyone who is at all worse than me should fail utterly (and humorously!) and anyone better is clearly too caught up in the game and their opinions shouldn't count.

Is there anywhere I could possibly buy Homeworld online? I don't feel like getting a hardcopy.

A few of the missions in the beginning let you mine them out before heading on to the next sector. I remember completing my objectives then just leaving the computer for about 2 hours while the miners mined out everything. As long as I did that I didn't have many problems.

Lol that level with the alien derelict that caps your ships was funny. I lost my whole fleet 1st time around. And I was maxed out on frigs and stuff...

Thanks juckto, that cleared up some uncertainties I had.

A couple questions though -
Is there recent information or links I need to know of for the LAN?

Is there a guide for making ships compatible with Allegiance? I'm using blender, and the ships in question have the texture files that are split into parts (very bothersome).
I need to know how to define hardpoints, emitters, camera location, etc.

Just a quick legal point, you're likely to run into trouble if you're using models extracted from homeworld. Anything that gets added to Allegiance is, under the terms of the source release, owned by Microsoft and obviously Relic own the Homeworld models so there's a potential conflict there. Of course, you're most likely flying under the radar of both groups because this is a pretty small community but it's worth bearing in mind.

Both games are about the same age, I'm not sure if they would give a @#(! or respond. But I'll try and contact them and get a more official word on the matter.
However, I didn't get any negative response from a HW moderator that actually told me how I could import the models. I did tell them what I had in mind with them.

Did he know that if you published the models and core then the models became property of Microsoft?

It can't actually work like that, I'm pretty sure.
