I'm in the same boat as xJammer really. I used to take my time out for the league but now it's just a sg every week I'd rather prepare for my HoN tourney instead :P

XT can just play with themselves then... I'm sure they would enjoy that.

They seem to play with themselves all the time.

I agree, that we should bring back the league. My opinion always has been, that dumping the league will result in a decline of the level of squadgames. Not only is it fact, that turn-out is better in leaguegames, but it also makes a difference in the approach to games. I don't talk about treating "friendlies" lightly. I for once try to give my best in every squadgame and I am sure the majority is doing so as well. But there needs to be games, where you can try out something new (i.e. commander, strategy,...) and games as well, where both squads' only goal is to win. I am talking about stuff like XT going Belters Expansion. Sure we need some experience to balance the new core and I appreciate the effort by Virulence, but I doubt XT would choose Belters Expansion in a league game vs SysX.

_xJammer_ wrote:QUOTE (_xJammer_ @ Feb 21 2011, 05:44 AM) Its very simple to try to abuse logic, and be blind to another possibility. What if we say, those who do not turn up for "friendlies" do not have the motivation to do so? If you play league or tourney, you at least have the shiny notice in the news, and on the front page, and its a league, sounds like something that counts.

It is especially true for myself, since currently I couldnt care less to turn up for friendly SG, unless we are doing something interesting.

Its good that XT does not differentiate between those SGs, and every one of them, is a frontline, but, as it looks like, most of the other people take this game with a lot more realistic approach.
Why the hell do you even play, then? Or do you even play anymore? SGs, whether "friendly" or not, are a far superior experience to PUGs. If you're not motivated to play SGs, then is it because you don't like flying with your squad, or are you simply not interested in playing Alleg at all anymore?

Maybe this is shocking to somebody like you, but when real problem-solvers want to solve problems, they don't just throw up their hands and say "well I guess they're not motivated to play, case closed!" We look into the reasons why they might not be motivated. Just holding leagues and tournaments all year long isn't going to change the fact that over half the Alleg playerbase doesn't actually care about seriously playing anymore.

Moreover, just reintroducing the league won't fix those problems anyway. It makes the symptoms less obvious, sure, but there was no shortage of forfeits due to insufficient turnout during the 2010 squad league.

i dont get what the difference is between a league game and a squad game. Winning the league and tourney are like woot, we get a front page announcement or whatever. i know I didnt get any goodies in the mail, or special ingame perks or whatever. You show up and play because you like playing with the people in your squad, not because there is some intangible trophy if you do better than everyone else.
