Yeah, I believe the reasoning behind it is; not to affect any potential mod installations or addons.lexaal wrote:QUOTE (lexaal @ Dec 25 2010, 01:50 PM) This is "Industry Standard".
New Allegiance Installer (Release Candidate)
[15:25] <BBT_> oh, so da vinci's mona lisa isn't his work?
[15:25] <+fuh-zz> No, he simply put effort into it.
[15:25] <BBT_> are you really that retarded?

notjarvis wrote:QUOTE (notjarvis @ Dec 19 2010, 07:51 PM) Will install it on a clean win7 machine after christmas (as my wife and kids are stopping me from getting near it until then)
Just installed it with no issues on Win7 Home Premium.
From Download to in game in about 5 minutes.
Thanks pkk, it works nicely for me.
PKK, since you're already making a new installer, are you going to add an option to install high res textures in your installer? Or perhaps make a seperate "high" res installer? and also replace the default keymap with any-keymapping-that-isn't-completely-worthless?
I figure the above mentioned items would be high priority for those who wants to recruit and maintain new allegiance players
but apparently they're not
which makes no sense and is stupid

Indeed I am glad we have such an inspiring hard working member of the community, who comes up with new ideas no-one has thought of or discussed.
keymaps can be done, they require a little work on the part of the implementer though (look up the various threads for why I can't be bothered to look them up).

I'd do it all myself if I knew how, unfortunately I'm dependent on a select few others to do the things that need to be done, unfortunately most of them have terrible priorities when it comes to Allegiance matters, and are too busy dumbing the game down for themselves to actually do what should be done.

Read this (better the whole thread) before posting again (and this time reply within the correct one):Mastametz wrote:QUOTE (Mastametz @ Jan 25 2011, 02:38 PM) PKK, since you're already making a new installer, are you going to add an option to install high res textures in your installer? I tried it on WinXP SP3 32bit.
Installed in custom dir C:\1
It installed fine, but all the shortcuts point to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Allegiance
And it made 3 same icons on the desktop.
Other than that it's great

New installer places shortcuts on "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop" or "C:\Users\Public\Desktop". So if you have already shortcuts on desktop, installer will create new ones...
