Presumably Orion and his group of volunteers? Heck if I know. But obviously we don't want the community to split, so I'm guessing that it would have to be someone who the majority of the average community members here would trust and want to run things, in order to prevent splits or people leaving.Jimen wrote:QUOTE (Jimen @ Aug 27 2010, 10:19 PM) Asked...by who?

Yes, by the community, as in... "this server is owned by FAO the organization", not "This server is owned by Joe Blow the guy who lives in canada". Nowhere does that imply a monthly premium to play. You're so pointless.
Also, I'm not proposing that I become an administrator or be part owner of this community, I'm merely stating my opinion for how this community's servers should be run (of course there are no community servers to speak of at the moment, which is the problem).

Q2 - what are the official duties and role of Dev ZL ? (I want a detailed post/wiki about this)
Q3 - Are you willing to have a public debate (and a vote) about removing hiders ?
Q4 - Are you willing to have a public debate (and a vote) about how ZLs are chosen and how long they stay in office ? eventually a more general debate about how the community is organised and managed.
Q5 - Are you willing to have a public debate (and a vote) about not letting Alleg die because a small but loud minority doesn't want the required drastic changes ? We can eventually extend this debate (and a vote) to splitting the game and the community into 2 distinct groups, each going its own way.
Q6 - Why are there hidden/private forums here ? Why ZLs debates and discussions aren't public ?
Q7 - Can we get a detailed description(hardware, OS, software, ownership, costs) of the systems used to run Alleg and support this community along with an explanation of why they're built like this ? (why this medieval forum software for instance!!!)
This has already been completed. The best organization of the community was determined to be the Zone Lead system and so far it has worked well for every zone except the Development Zone. The Helpline Machine is spitting out answers to all questions in rapid time, the event team has provided the squads with multiple tournaments, The core dev team has spit out 8 or 9 core revisions, the training zone is training in new pilots at some sort of rate and the enforcement zone is.. enforcing?KGJV wrote:QUOTE (KGJV @ Aug 27 2010, 07:37 PM) Q3 - Are you willing to have a public debate (and a vote) about removing hiders ?

Serious changes to the code should go through the correct channels (and these channels are not public). That is why private forums are needed.KGJV wrote:QUOTE (KGJV @ Aug 27 2010, 07:37 PM) Q5 - Are you willing to have a public debate (and a vote) about not letting Alleg die because a small but loud minority doesn't want the required drastic changes ? I have an urgent suggestion: add a new category in the forum "Future of Allegiance". Allegiance is also my game, the game of every player who are playing it. I don't want to see all these discussions in the general. I don't think the "general" was made for that" and I think people post in "general" because their message is more likely to be seen.
So please, move this topic, it doesn't give the new players a good impression of the Allegiance's community.
p.s.
This topic reminds me "Beyond The Red Line" and Diaspora. BTRL stopped, some people decided to create a new game and now... nothing.

Can I be the Care bear here? TE has done a great job and sacrifices a lot. I don't see anything broken on his end, he's great and I
him.
As far as the devs go, I know Imago is awesome, and has done A TON to help out the game. If I could, I would hug him. I don't know all the drama that's been going on (I've been away from the game too long), but I've picked up on some of it, hopefully enough to have a cursory knowledge.
I love you guys, I miss playing a lot, and seriously, any split would destroy the game. TE is an awesome person. As far as the devs go, I don't quite understand all the drama, but it sucks to see people who have done so much get so upset (I know this is routine drama, but still). I think there's a severe lack of mutual respect (in the world, not just here) and this is nothing more than an outgrowth of it.
Kage, I realize some of what you said has merit, but whining about the forum software is unnecessarily rude.
tl;dr: I'm a carebear and want us all just to get along, bake cookies, and have a group hug

The nice part about being a pessimist is that you are constantly being either proven right or pleasantly surprised.
