Thanks for looking into it. Same results with FreeBeer when run without ASGS.
I tried ASGS and AU kicked in and now I get "(BETA) Unable to secure Allegiance Installation" (Non Beta works fine after an Update/Repair).
I think the next version on AU will fix this though. I'll report back on Wednesday.
Have issues getting to the beta?

Beta Wednesdays using ASGS will only work on a given Wednesday and you will need to download a new file from ASGS Beta Mode every Wednesday.parcival wrote:QUOTE (parcival @ Jul 19 2010, 04:51 PM) Thanks for looking into it. Same results with FreeBeer when run without ASGS.

On non-Wednesday days, if you still want to test, you will have to do a direct download of the potentially unstable (people are submitting fixes for testing all of the time) bleeding-edge installer at your choice.
I'm totally willing to help beta test, but not to do a whole fresh install every Wednesday - if it can work with ASGS beta mode then all well and good. But again, .mdl files are downloaded by ASGS when Beta mode is selected, and critical files are update/repaired, but their signatures are invalid, and ASGS continually tries to redownload instead of launching. Specifically newgamescreen.mdl, but that may just be the first one it finds. Ah well.
Code: Select all

These bugs haven't been fixed yet because don't have any developers interested in fixing them up. --Tigereye

You don't need to run the installer every time beta got updated.Raven_42 wrote:QUOTE (Raven_42 @ Aug 11 2010, 06:34 PM) I'm totally willing to help beta test, but not to do a whole fresh install every Wednesday - if it can work with ASGS beta mode then all well and good. All you need is running THE INSTALLER one time and than launching BETA without ASGS!
BETA will keep itself up-to-date without ASGS.
PS:
ASGS pushs outdated version.

+1 i don't think a lot of folks realize Beta AU works correctly, they are too used to the other two broken update systems ;ppkk wrote:QUOTE (pkk @ Aug 11 2010, 11:38 AM) You don't need to run the installer every time beta got updated.

Imago's old installer (before the devteamsplit) changed the artwork folder to c:\fazr6\artwork, uninstalling didn't change it back.
Solution is described there -> http://www.freeallegiance.org/FAW/index.ph...e#Registry_keys
edit: after solving you need to run update critical files one more time.
edit2: above actions allowed me to start the game, and to join the lobby without crash. But i got a crash launching a game just before the countdowns starts. Message:
Could not open the artwork file allegpath\artwork\e_smokebmp.mdl (and others)
