Question is, how much of this could be solved with an upgrade?

EDIT:
Damn I knew I shouldn't have click "REFRESH -> RESEND."

I'm checking right now - if TB or TE get back to me before 11pm CST tomorrow night as to how our settings are set here I can verify on my 24 hour demo of the newest version of IPB.

I'm assuming it's some combination of these under "Security and Privacy (General/High):

Member's log in key: Expiration

Reset member's log in key upon each log in?

Session Expiration (in seconds)

Match user's IP Address during session validation

Match user's browser during session validation

Good News everyone!

After mimicking the settings TB gave me, it appears to work for me.

This demo is good for 14 more hours

That's IPB 3. First, we'd have to purchase it. Second, it'd be a pain in the ass to acutally merge the content over. I do LOVE the new features of IPB 3, I just don't know if they are worth it.

That's a bit beyond "updgrade" and more like "fully replace and merge in content".

O_o

They roll out new versions and require you to purchase them without a 100% perfect migration tool?

WTF happened to the "yearly fee" model?

I just checked out the newest stable.

(edit -- I think $150 would be worth it to the community, but only if it can be ONE HUNDRED PERCENT GUARANTEED TO MIGRATE ALL DATA)

Your data is migrated, not necessarily settings or themes. My other community made the switch from IPB 2 -> 3, and we had to remake the theme.

Next time I have a chat with TE, I'll bring this up. I might front the $150 if its something the community would benefit from.

Nothing is impossible, it just takes tons of time...

Some things *are* impossible on the hardware we have now.

We *still* don't have the db import from the old PHPNuke boards.

1) This theme is probably not hard to recreate at all.
2) Why avoid a free solution? Yes I can come up with ideas of my own but I want to here it from the big boys.
