Well... I'm a rank 5 since ranks have changed. I really don't care about these ranks. I really think they're not accurate.

Im stuck at 7 ever since I linked my account from a few years ago to my newer and current one. It cut my Mu in half if i remember correctly. Although being a lower rank is a nice thing since comms expect less from you when you fly for them. My two cents ^^

i am new and i am clueless, but just like in combat arms once u reach a certain rank you can no longer play on the recruit server. Maybe have a custom sever with AI's to solo play but then again you can do that in training. so anyway then maybe just change one of the names to "squad training and tactics" no commanders but with structures already in place.

i was wondering something else,.. is it possible to play another faction in the main map? i ask only because i like the way Phoenix ships look and would like to play those on the main;.. would it have to be more than 2 factions then? i guess what i am getting at is playing Phoenix in alliance with one of the factions already on the main... ie: an alliance option.

Wiz

I wasn't sure English was your native language... Kat my sister is that you?

Trust me as you stick around and learn the "in jokes" you'll know I was making fun of myself and giving you a great big welcome.

edit: go play in the main game if your five or you WILL be banned. Sign up for cadet and if you must test this or that simply start a new game and DO NOT use the term newb in the title

I've never seen the point to newbie servers - you can't play a solo game as far as I can tell (if I'm wrong, correct me, it'd be nice to be able to practice commanding that way), and there's so few people left on Allegiance that you can sit around for an hour or more waiting for even one or two people to see your newbie server. Which, of course, only vets have the patience for, and there's not much you can learn in a two-person newbie game without some advice anyway. So they just jump on the main server and learn by fire (or get stuck in bad habits because the vets don't let them live long no matter what they do, so they don't learn which habits are bad).

The bigger problem is if someone wants to command - since there's usually only one game running at a time, everyone is absolutely terrified of letting anyone with a rank of less than 7 comm, and newbie games won't really help with that, because again, it's quicker to ask questions and there'd be no one to ask in a restricted game. Just tonight I witnessed some utterly hilarious, completely unintentional (I hope) stacking - one commander was a rank 1 (but otherwise knew what he was doing, clearly wasn't his first time) and the other was a vet, so no one with a rank higher than 5 was willing to join the side of the newbs, so it ended up as a team of three low-ranked people against a team of five high-ranked people , just because none of the high rankers were willing to serve under a low-rank commander. This is at 2am, mind you, with less than ten people willing to play at all. And the only reason a newb was commanding in the first place was because no higher-ranks wanted to play anyway, so the newbs figured it'd be okay to practice commanding if they could just manage to get one person to join each team, but the only person who'd join wanted to be commander.

If you just want to practice ordering cons around etc. you can create yourself a solo game. Select create game, then click the tick next to the team you don't want to drop them from the game.

As for comms, the point is - if a commander doesn't know what he's doing well, the game mostly sucks for the team with the poor commander, so Vet's don't want to fly in games like that. Frankly, if a player's rank is 1 it's unlikely he knows enough to be a decent Comm, so no-one will fly for him.

Learning to command is generally left until you have a reasonable reputation as a pilot first TBH, as people will be inclined to give you a chance....
