Nother one bites the dust
Me neither. Personally had I been comm, I may have chewed you out some, but I wouldn't have booted you. That treatment I reserve for those who are disruptive, or those who are willfully ignoring orders and not making up for it by doing something even better than what I asked them to do. (There's been many a happy occasion where I've scanned the map for someone to make an example of for not getting on an important bomb run, only to discover that the only people still out are well-known game-changing vets who are simply ignoring me and my stupid schemes and killing miners instead or whatever).phungus420 wrote:QUOTE (phungus420 @ Jun 12 2009, 03:27 PM) I don't think that's a good enough reason to kick someone.
Booting players won't bring the con back and it robs me of the chance to explain in lurid detail exactly what you did wrong. All it does is ruffle feathers as far as I'm concerned.
But hey, that's me. I'm not known as a particularly good commander who wins games, probably because of this attitude. The fact remains that sucking is a legitimately bootable offense. Don't feel bad, we all suck from time to time -- some people more than others. And because you can always come back and rejoin the game, booting isn't really all that harsh of a punishment. It's like giving a toddler a time-out; that's about it. [GO TO YOUR ROOM AND THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU DID WRONG!]
I remember when I first started playing, I either got yelled at or was booted by gui (or both). For weeks after that I thought he was an intolerable prick. With the benefit of two year's hindsight I can clearly see how wrong I was. He's a prick alright, but a pretty tolerable one. Don't do stupid @#(! and he's actually pretty easy to get along with.
So um ... hope you come back to the game. And stop doing stupid @#(!.

I encourage you to keep playing. It is a very rewarding and fun game. Instead of getting upset with the boot, ask nicely the person who booted you for a reason. You will learn a lot this way. Sometimes you may even find you were booted because it was a mistake. So if you like the game, Keep playing.phungus420 wrote:QUOTE (phungus420 @ Jun 13 2009, 08:27 AM) I played this game for a little bit a few months ago, was learning stuff and what not. But I quit out of frustration, mainly irritated due to stacking and what not. Anyway, I liked it so I figured I'd give it a try again. My second game today, just got booted. I was trying to escort an outpost constructor, got jumped by 3 technoflux scouts, and they destoyed the constructor. I got two of them, but man, I haven't played this game in a while, and I just wasn't good enough. I don't think that's a good enough reason to kick someone. But that's the thing, this is what I remember about this game. Just mean people in general run it, and force new players like myself from the game. So yeah, nother player out. Just figured I'd let the community know how new players are treated when they start to play.

I agree cashto, and any parent worth their salt also knows that the toddler is thinking "I HATE MY PARENTS!" rather than thinking "Oh so what did I do wrong..."cashto wrote:QUOTE (cashto @ Jun 13 2009, 06:55 AM) It's like giving a toddler a time-out; that's about it. I decided to relive the days gone by in my new blog.

Remember, what I say is IMO always. If I say that something sucks, it actually means "I think it sucks" OK?

Those boots are the best aren't they?SpaceJunk wrote:QUOTE (SpaceJunk @ Jun 13 2009, 10:04 PM) I got booted once after escorting and saving a con alone. I know that trauma is going to haunt me forever.

Missile Frigate gets 7 - 8 nans. As I'm about to rip to the sector (belts fig) I see our 2 miners attacked by a couple of figs, and delay until I kill the figs, nan their miners hull back and then rip to D the MF... or I would have if that wasn't the time I get the boot for not being with the MF piloted personally by the com
