Well it depends on which faction the commander picks at the start of the game (like in an RTS). You choose which commander to fly for.
Personally I stick with Rix, or at least I try to. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

A second question regarding Psych's post: is that a Teamspeak server or the location of the program? I have Teamspeak set up as the Wiki had said. Is that address still current?
Crono: I thought as much. Here's to IC, but if I notice some big names on a team, I'll more-than-likely join that team to observe.
Barricuda: In-game, I can guarantee I'm a laughable twit who can give as good as he gets. It's just the more common 'insults' that bug me, like 'noob' for example. I don't know why, it doesn't so much insult me as make me wonder why someone would call their killer a noob. Kinda degrades the 'insulter' if you ask me. XD
I prefer to throw comments to whoever runs me down, regardless of game. And also, thanks for the advice. Made me lul. XD

Current Goal:
Graduate from Cadet II
Master Flying (always in progress)

You can only choose which team to join -- the commander sets the faction. There are probably going to be one or two games going at any one time just because not a lot of people play Allegiance, which is a maximum of 4 teams, and 4 factions, barring any repeats and 3+ games (nobody plays those). So, at best, you'll only have a selection of 4 factions.
Good news for you, though, IC gets a lot of playtime. Even though it seems like it would be the "basic" faction that other ones are based of, it is not. Each faction has it's own share of strategies, special features, and counter-strategies. IC has rescue probes, ungalvable bases, great hull, and miners that can rip. Don't get too used to your awesome IC hull.

Well why not? XD Who WOULDN'T wanna keep that?
Immortal: The Wiki is current, or Psych's post? XD Sorry for the confusion.
Zecro: I don't intend to get used to much, really. I know I'll have to play other factions at some point. But when possible, I'll play IC.
Two more things I thought up while heading to bed last night, one a question:
1) Newb servers, I notice, will help me with identifying what ships I'll be flying and how best to ID ships from a distance. With all the money and cap ships and everything else around there, I should be learning ship profiles in no time.
2) How would I go about joining a Squadron? I know how to make one, and indeed that is one of my goals already. But why not join a Squadron first to see how they work? I do believe it was covered in Cadet I material, but forgive me for being tight on time. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> Got work shortly.

Well, I personally have a preference for sup and tac, so exp being overpowered is really annoying for me.
To answer your question, joining a squad will take a while, I've been playing for more than half a year now and consider myself halfway decent and I haven't been able to join one. This is partly because you have to take CDT I and II before most squads will accept you, and until recently I haven't found the time to do it. In other words, take CDT I and II, once you have done those, you will either be recruited by a squad interested in you, or you can send one an appliction. You can send applictions before that too, but you might not get accepted
