I have respect for his int whoring abilities, just not his grasp on what the hell this thread was about. In no wAY were dest's hunter-killers mentioned. Not at all. In fact, the majority of the thread make me cry for some of the stupidity I read.

I'm pretty sure noone used destroyers back then... killers when first introduced where called hunter killers, and i was talking about sfs carrying them.

See, back then there was the problem of deva's camping alephs, 10-15 fighters could take one deva down if they got lucky. Pretty much nothing but another deva could stop them though. Tac had absolutely nothing that could damage them, when they got these missiles out you could kill a deva with sfs, though it still took at least 7 sfs to do it. (later they realized they had to nerv the deva's to get them to be remotely balanced). Was just reminiscing about the insta-kill missiles.

As for your topic... a gunship using side thrusters will not be hit by killer missiles unless it's at point blank range. And anyone who plays allegiance without using side thrusters deserves the pods they live in. As for bomber defense with killers, doable... but it's so much easier to shoot the nans down, there's nothing better than sfs for killing nans... go straight in, fire 2 lrms at the nan at medium range and snipe them, nans will die faster than your sf. IMHO if everyone on defense concentrated on killing a single nan-scout each time no regularly eyed bomber run would ever succeed.
