TS adds a nice social element, and yesterday, for the two short games I played it also allowed me to share the humor of the situation with friends /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
When me, Wizard, Adam4, Icky... etc were playing, our ever-so-effiscient TS use was mostly about chuckling at the humorous difficulties.
"Nice bombing there Wizard!"
"Hey, its not me man, I'm just docking."
"Who the heck is this guy I'm nanning then?"
and so on... /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
I didn't stay for long, but for the half hour that I played the joke stayed pretty funny. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

But maybe more on the topic I would have gone mad flying in a totally anonymous mass, without TS to create even a little bit of order in the chaos.

<bp|> Maybe when I grow up I can be a troll like PsycH
<bp|> or an obsessive compulsive paladin of law like Adept

ha ha, I find this funny. I joined a game under snacks_sister /wub.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":iluv:" border="0" alt="wub.gif" /> only to find her being pummeled by the other team AND her own team's stupidity. It was nuts the extent to which people rely on identity to organize themselves in this game. Everyone wanted to do their own thing and nobody wanted to do what the commander asked them to do, I imagine because most people don't know what the &*^% to do and just follow around the people they consider to be elite vets.
I didn't think to get on TS to try and control the madness. My bad.
On the other hand, lol at spawn, you don't suck at all. Gui on the other hand... jury's still out... /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

After flying for a voob comm [Exo] as IC on hilo42retards vs jimmy as Dreg, on high money settings and plentiful I could see no games on april fools were going to be worth flying. TS as always is the only way to avoid the stupidity of pugs. Fact.
slap wrote:QUOTE (slap @ Oct 7 2009, 01:28 AM) good point, I concede.
Not really. I flew for #@%# the first part of a game after I joined... then the com gave me a frigate. Yeeeeee-Hawwww!guitarism wrote:QUOTE (guitarism @ Apr 2 2008, 02:50 AM) Whats funny is, I thought the games were actually MORE even with the randomized callsigns, because it relied upon you as a player showing in game that you were competent, not relying upon your name for it's staying power.
After I failed to blow the enemy expansion (though the other frig got the home garrison), the com actually gave me another Frig!
Was fun stuff. It's been a while since anyone was foolish enough to let me drive a large cap. Guess I'll have to wait till 4/1/2009!
Side note: if you want to com, and you are on a hider/random-april-fools-nic/etc; Be prepared to answer some basic to intermediate question that any very experienced com should be able to answer to verify that you are not a poser. If a potential com can't tell me what kind of rock a sup con needs to plant on, I'm very unlikely to give them GC, or to fly for them.
Side-side note: to all you posers claiming to be someone with skillz, study up a bit, that way not only can you fake it.... you will actually know stuff, 'And knowing is half the battle!' /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />
If you see me trying to join a team with the most vets, I actually am anti-stacking.
I agree that TS does improve coordination, but you get your team full of Spawn's on TS against my team of Mallows, Mad's, Para's, etc who normally don't use TS in pickup games and you won't even plant your first outpost. Now STFU voob and go buy me a microphone.guitarism wrote:QUOTE (guitarism @ Apr 2 2008, 03:10 AM) I believe a team of voobs, all on TS, all talking (like Spawn's skill level or so) would beat a team of pug vets without TS. Simple.

No but April Fools is only one day a year so I'm pretty sure we can all live with itquackdamnyou wrote:QUOTE (quackdamnyou @ Apr 1 2008, 11:58 PM) Do you think it's fair for nine vets to organize together under a known commander, while the rest of the game plays anonymously in the spirit of the prank?
I'm sorry I don't remember any of it. For you the day spideycw graced your squad with utter destruction was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Sunday

My apologies.
