doesn't that simply mean play vs noobs if you want to win?takingarms1 wrote:QUOTE (takingarms1 @ Mar 31 2008, 07:38 PM) Just heed the wisdom of Sun Tzu:

Honestly I think he's talking about probing and deprobing but I'm not sure. :hmm:
Attack VS Defense?

Um, yeah.. hvy ints suck at defense. /glare.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":glare:" border="0" alt="glare.gif" />Curiosity wrote:QUOTE (Curiosity @ Mar 31 2008, 06:18 AM) But... can someone explain how an expansion contributes to a team's defenses? /unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
Expansion gives you Interceptors which are designed to be short-range craft because they need fuel and ammo to be useful. Ever run out of gas on your int? Or ever had a sup get destroyed, and you forget to hit default loadout only to launch with no booster?
Anyway, interceptors are fast and have very strong short-range guns. This means they can launch fast and intercept quickly. This also means that if the enemy mines next to one of your bases, you can enter the sector (sometimes uneyed if you don't boost) and quickly destroy the miner.
If you are defending, that means you are not attacking which means they are mining freely. If your enemy mines freely, they gain technology advantage and, if you don't attack their forward bases, get into a very good position to strike at you. You should always be attacking miners and constructors and, if you have the tech, organizing galv runs/HTT runs/SB runs/bomb runs.
Yes, the best defense is a good offense, but the best defense in allegiance is also PROBING. Ever had a bombing run pop out from a sector with no probes right into your homebase? Yeah.
