Yes, Allegiance would have died a long time ago if not for VenCain (among a host of others, not to belittle anyone in the past). He protected us from the likes of Guns22 and FS_Black. We need to get the 'who is and who was who in Allegiance' up somewhere again. We can't forget the VenCains and KGJVs of the community who did so much for it, then for whatever reasons, faded away.

I think my favorite memory was back when I first hacked the server code to allow 200-player games again. We scheduled a game to test out it's viability. I think we got 176 people in that game at max count, and I had tears in my eyes when we all heard, for the first time in YEARS it seemed, the sector overload sound, accompanied by a chorus of 'Yee Haw!' voice chats. God, it was beautiful....

I missed the darkest days of Allegiance. I was here at the beginning of the end. But RL kicked in (I was but a 16 year old back then with no voice on how my life will be run). I returned during the PayPal era. I remember one of the PKers vouching for me to get around the PayPal system. I do not remember exactly who it was (my deepest apologies), but I've never really left since then.

The rapid rise of the regular playerbase, even in recent times is astonishing - in 2006, one would have to wait till the weekends to see 70 players. Now we see such a number every day. The first squad tournament revitalized squads and brought back several lost veterans.

Yes, we are in good shape.

Oh joy Fuzz and Andon get to help create history!

It's all fun and games, too /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />.

Now, you sporkers, look what we have to beat.

I joined in 2004 as well... And it was pretty bare compared to today.

Also when we used to download Allegiance to install it... I remember the command window flying up and all those paths, and such flying by... As the game decompiled or something it seemed. I was lucky if I could install it in 30 minutes it seemed.

Now it is a simple, clean fast install.

I joined several months before we had @Alleg, and well let's just say that with @Alleg things have greatly improved.

Awesome post TA. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Sound files were converted from ogg to wave... Now Allegiance supports ogg sound files. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
