No, no, no, no way I'm going with FLV.
My encoding is done in x264 with meGUI.
Training Vids and other fun things
Well is there any player object I can stick on my flash webpage that will play that and if so how much smaller you think my file could be.ImmortalZ wrote:QUOTE (ImmortalZ @ Mar 18 2008, 01:58 AM) No, no, no, no way I'm going with FLV.

I don't know of any "player objects" that'll play x264. Which isn't odd, considering...

As for examples, Aeris has some which I uploaded to him. Maybe he'll upload to some site so you can check it out.

Before apathy sets in should we set out some parameters?
Here is my list on what I would prefer please add, remove and justify.
Widescreen (somewhere between 600-720 by 400 +)Simple opening test card (stating the name, intended player level and what the lesson is about)*followed by a nice, quick, classic introductory animation*End credits*A format that is widespread and will stream to flash (mp4??)
* These objects will be reused in every movie just to ensure format, familiarity and for ease of use.
I am more interested in creating the really simple movies for newbies and morons like myself and humour laden infomercials.
Something like "BV's 10 step plan to not being booted, banned or worse! Narrated by BV himself." /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

I'm not so much on the editing... mostly because I've never tried to and all my raws are long since gone.
Not to mention, you want it to resemble this website, not ours /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
Also, Widescreen FTL. The game is nativly 4:3, most people's screens are 4:3.

don't use the 400*300, we want these to be nice big clear videosCronoDroid wrote:QUOTE (CronoDroid @ Mar 18 2008, 09:11 PM) Right now I play Allegiance at 800x600 (low I know, but it has a good sized text for my 17" CRT) and I record using FRAPS at half size so I get 400x300 vids. I could record at full size and chop it down later I suppose.
go for 800*600, we want them to be able to do things like read the chat, it also means you can do things like zooming in on bits like lawson did in his videos (actually, he recorded them in a higher res so he could do that)

stick with 4:3

Oh for the love of orange juice will you peeps add and remove from this list (& justify) /wub.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":iluv:" border="0" alt="wub.gif" /> .
I intend to use Google Sketchup where possible to save time and trouble with recording and trying to get the shots I want. So if anyone is thinking of going the same route, give me a knock so to save time. I can import the wireframes into sketchup and will look into getting the textures imported or creating some. I will only need 2 or three models to work with.
I know I sound pushy and keep trying to prod people along. Sorry in advance!
Blue sky thought... a introductory movie/animation of this image?
