WOAH! Hold it right there! SP1 for Vista is bad bad bad if you want to play Alleg! It contains .NET 3.5, which will NOT show under 'programs and functions'! If you already installed it, that's your problem. I'll look up the solution to that if that's the case (other than removing the SP1 that is).

The hotfix is for .Net 1.1 after .Net 1.1 SP1 is installed. It's available through Windows Update once .Net SP1 is applied. And yes, avoid Vista SP1. /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />

I did say fighting off SP1.. (by which I mean not installing it) anyway I'm under pressure to get it installed so I hope he hurries up and releases it... (by which I mean the updated ASGS)
1.1Sp1 was installed yesterday but I still haven't received a hotfix for it...
EDIT: "By which I mean"
EDIT2: BTW I've spent the last two hours working on virtual machines, back compatability engines and elevation to try and get this working.

For Windows Update and the hot fix, you have to invoke it manually.
Virtual Machines? ASGS won't work through a virtual machine. Period.
edit: and yeah... I knew what you had posted, I was just being sure that we were on the same page. /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />

Right.
Windows Update, I've opened Windows Update and checked all the optional updates, and they're all old VIA modem drivers...
Virtual Machines, yes, I know that now. Nice of you to tell me now hehe..
Any ideas?
oh and BTW I tried uninstalling all .NET runtimes just to test it. Tried to install the app and it said that I needed the .NET FW- that shows that I didn't have any full versions installed, but there's a few lingering files or registry entries right?

Well, I don't recall you mentioning anything about using virtual machines with Alleg. If I had known that, then I'd have chimed in right away.
Ok, so you've uninstalled all of the .Net stuff through Add/Remove Programs, right? Then you've run the cleanup tool? Then you've re-installed the .Net 1.1, .Net 1.1 SP1? The hotfix should be then available. I've never known it to be unavailable unless it's a Vista-specific behavior (and one I'm unaware of).

The hotfix becomes available on the Windows Update no matter which OS you're running (I'm running Ultimate now and it was there every time I reinstalled 1.1, I was on XP earlier and it was on Update also). One more question: did you install the .NETs in the default locations?

Yes, default locations (let me know if that's wrong). By hotfix, did you mean the Security Update for .NET 1.1? Something like that installed in the background yesterday (automatic updates are disables now thanks to SP1 and .NET 3.0 trying to install itself again.
