Right now I'm trying to figure out, with Datamine's help, what makes stuff spawn. In the FPS example that comes with the engine, you spawn, and an npc called Kork spawns.
Kork runs in a predetermined circle, you can run around and shoot him up with your exploding crossbow bolts (yesss) and then he respawns, later rinse repeat. It's fun, but not exactly what I'm aiming for /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

Anyway, looking in the map editor, there are about 6 SpawnSphere markers on the map. Delete them all, and Kork still spawns, and you still spawn. ?? what the heck do they do then?? Turns out Kork spawns at his first waypoint (he's got 4 preset waypoints that make up the route he runs around in). And you, the player, spawn at this little invisible Observer dot. What's it observing? What do the SpawnSphereMarkers do? These are the things perplexing me right now.

From what I can tell, once I can start spawning people and vehicles at will, it should get a lot simpler. Right now I'm struggling with this, and Datamine is helping me because the engine's site and their tutorials suck (I had to bookmark the tutorials page because I'm only ever able to find it accidentally) /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

So hang in there, guys. If you want, I'll keep everyone updated on my successes and frustrations and stuff.

We have no schedule, and pkk was just making an in-joke /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />

The game will come out when it comes out, don't worry, we'll let you all know when that happens. You won't miss it /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I'm working on the 3D Graphics area, and in the Art concept part too.
Right now im letting my computer breathe after all that CPU-Intensive Belters program, and thinking on innovative faction-unique concepts. (Bios Trebuchet FTW!)

Quantus is being made with the true ''From Gamers to Gamers'' concept, so dont expect the effectiveness of the commercial enterprises, relatively to the Alpha release date. But everyone is making their efforts in creating this game, so it shouldn't take a really Long time. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

i have a request, can you post whenever you reach a major goal?

for example, when you get ingame for the first time, or the first time you manage to sync something from a server, or even the first time you manage to write some code which will probably end up in the final game (ie not just learning the tools).

its nice to know what's happening, and you get to bask in praise... everybody wins.
