How about ints (and perhaps figs) use fuel to go through an aleph? A coding change but would it help? or too extreme?

what does an int do with no fuel and no friendly base in that sector?
wait to be podded?
what if the enemy realiise he has no fuel and leave him locked in that sector until he logs out and back in to pod him self? / waits for a power up to appear

Guess he shouldn't be that far away from base should he. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
For those that were d'ing a base though and failed something should be done to help those out. Perhaps going through the aleph without fuel pods you. Then you can float back.
I'm just throwing it out there while fighting a cold. I haven't tried to think this through fully. There are better people around to do that anyway.

I'd rather be in a fueless int than a pod... 20-30% faster.

pod yourself on rock, all except for one guy that'll pick you up?

i think that each tech path should have a specific light-medium cap ship that can be researched

naw. heres the problem, Sup pretty much slaughters cap ships. If cap ships were common, you would have little reason not to go sup.
and besides, the gunship is essentially a light-medium cap ship

.. instead we have little or no reason to not to go Exp. but that is never a problem, neh ? /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Well how about make Figs faster and then that will balance int's fuel somewhat.

or reduce ints fuel.
or give them boosters that accelerate them to 500m/s but only last long enough to take them 2k on one fuel tank
pros: ints range is reduced, they can intercept things faster like get to the aleph twice as fast as they could before, 500m/s ships are fun as hell
cons: ints cant boost 3 sectors to kill a miner, which is of course what they were designed for
/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
(actually from testing, it needs to be 600m/s since they peak at 500m/s so the average speed was lower, at 4 sec with 600m/s peak it is similar to boosting at 500m/s for 4 sec from standing then stopping)
