not necessary at all. ASGS and the domain already tell me who is playing and we all play on the same server., plus we have our ts server and in game chat to communicate just fine. A lot of effort for no reason.

Welcome to last year. Anyone who uses X-Fire regularly noticed this as soon as it happened.

Not necessary for us Shadow, but it is an interesting avenue for promoting/advertising.

Thanks for the reminder, I used to use XFire, and I agree, it may be a good avenue for promotion.

I downloaded their latest version and a couple of things seem to be out of date with the Allegiance support:

The game detail screen links to www.allegacademy.org which is no longer up. I've sent a feedback email about this and requested they change it to www.freeallegiance.org

I have also found in order to get the overlay (chat, video recording etc.) working in XFire, you need to change the Game Settings so it can hook into the InGameRenderer correctly.
(Program Files\XFire\xfire_games.ini)
Change the DDRAW entry to D3D9

I guess this may have changed with R5? I'll send them another feedback email about this.

I've been playing with using it to record gameplay, and it seems a bit better for my machine than fraps, and it is a lot easier for me to encode and upload, with just a single step...
