Wasp, you're a clown. You added absolutely nothing with your reply. If you hang around just to complain and insult people you are just one of the many bitter trolls of the internet.

Get over yourself. If you don't care about the game or the community, pack up your ship and get out. You won't be missed, and it doesn't sound like you'll miss anything from here.

Go. Live. Do something better with your life. (And this is the last thought I'll spend on you)

After a 4 year hiatus (I graduated college, used linux for several years, so I couldn't play, now I just got an MS surface), I'm baaaaack. I see a few people here I still recognize. I see SysX is gone now :(
Guys, this would be awesome for you to pull off. This has always been one of my favorite games, and I am excited to have the opportunity to play again!
I'm really curious if MS will change the license for us, I know we have lost a lot of dev's over the years, but it would be AWESOME to revive this game. I'm planning to reinstall in a day or two, but wanted to drop in a reply of support, hopefully we can see this through.
Hoping to see you guys in game, and I'll try to bring friends!

The nice part about being a pessimist is that you are constantly being either proven right or pleasantly surprised.

You might want to keep an eye on what is going on with Subspace. They got greenlit on Steam and people in the forums are claiming it will go live in July. They say pushing for... does not sound like it is confirmed so they may still be trying to work out an agreement with Steam. Not a terribly different situation than here though. The only big difference is basically no one owns Subspace or it is at least unclear who holds the rights. But it is an old free to play game that the community has long since taken over.

What about finding some developers (they got forum where you can hire them) and ask them how much they want for rebulding this game on some new engine. And when we know price, we can start some fundrising campagin, like kickstarer, indigogo and others?

Allegiancezone.com is defunct

So is factoid's project of porting allegiance in a cross platform environment.

Our only somewhat active project is this https://github.com/orgs/FreeAllegiance/dashboard
Led by Backtrack with me as his beta tester.

We have tried this for more than a decade.

The main issue with having Allegiance on Steam is that we (as in FAO), do not hold the copyright of the game.
Also the license MSR gave us when the source code was released, explicitly prevents us to market Allegiance even as a free game (on platforms
such as Steam)
The same goes for kickstarter we can't ask for funds for what we do not own.

ALSO, YOU MUST PASS THIS LIMITATION OF LIABILITY ON WHENEVER
YOU DISTRIBUTE THE SOFTWARE OR DERIVATIVE WORKS.
9. That we have no duty of reasonable care or lack of negligence, and we are not
obligated to (and will not) provide technical support for the Software.
10. That if you breach this MSR-SSLA or if you sue anyone over patents that you
think may apply to the Software or anyone's use of the Software, your license to
the Software ends automatically and you shall destroy all of your copies of the
Software immediately. Section 5 of this MSR-SSLA shall survive any termination
of this license.
11. That the patent rights, if any, granted in this License only apply to the Software,
not to any derivative works you make.
12. That the Software is subject to U.S. export jurisdiction at the time it is licensed to
you, and it may be subject to additional export or import laws in other
places. You agree to comply with all such laws and regulations that may apply to
the Software after delivery of the software to you.
13. That if you are an agency of the U.S. Government, (i) Software provided
pursuant to a solicitation issued on or after December 1, 1995, is provided with
the commercial license rights set forth in this License, and (ii) Software provided
pursuant to a solicitation issued prior to December 1, 1995, is provided with

DFAR, 48 C.F.R. 252.227-7013 (Oct 1988), as applicable.
14. That your rights under this License end automatically if you breach it in any way.
15. That all rights not expressly granted to you in this License are reserved.
16. That this MSR-SSLA shall be construed and controlled by the laws of the State of
Washington, USA, without regard to conflicts of law. If any provision of this
MSR-SSLA shall be deemed unenforceable or contrary to law, the rest of this
MSR-SSLA shall remain in full effect and interpreted in an enforceable manner
that most nearly captures the intent of the original language.

But we as FAO cannot, since the license restricts us from doing so.

Please before necroing an old thread, do a bit of research first.
