As one of the long timers with respect to Allegiance I can see why other game specific forums banned the "come play Allegiance we have cookies" posts of the marketing department.

While I understand there is no evil intent, and I've got NO interest in this game at all, this is harmful to Allegiance given its current health.

So in the tradition of Allegiance=drama

Stop making these posts you $#@!tards, Duckie nuke the entire thread, etc etc

Honestly gents, I love the game as much for the players as the play but at the end of the day when a thread in a forum dedicated to a nitch game like this is used to coordinate long term play of another game...

You've stole FreeBeer away ffs! Stop the madness

*weeps hysterically and throws himself onto his bed, and begins to wonder if Clay is home yet from band practice or Duckie's pure untl marriage meeting is over yet *

I can't speak for the others, but I would be playing this game with my fellow alleg-ites even without this thread, we would just find some other place to discuss things.

Not that I've had time to play Allegiance, or any other game for that matter, in the last few weeks, but pretending that the allegiance community doesn't play other games is BS, and suppressing discussion about other games doesn't make a difference. People find out about new games from many sources. I won't play a game if I don't know it exists, but my time playing allegiance is rather constant and wouldn't change even if all other computer games disappeared tomorrow.

I've often thought the same thing, MrC. But it would appear from past "hot game of the month" posts, that this doesn't often become a problem in the long term. I think part of the reason is already stated in your post - it's the peeps within the community that keep us returning to Allegiance. At least it is for me. Sure, folks run off to play with the new shiny, but they're back a month later looking to pod an easy mark (me).

As far as World of Tanks is concerned, the only reason I even bothered to check it out was because others Allegites were playing it, and I thought it'd be a fun distraction to be able to play with them. I think the "break from active Allegiance playing" has been good for me. I was finding myself logged into Alleg for hours, but never really playing. WoT simply doesn't have the depth of gameplay that Alleg has to offer. (Although it does share similarities in that it's very much a team-centered game.) So once that game becomes boring (and it will as evidenced by those who played in beta but no longer do), they always return home to nest. :D

My Chaotic friend, WoT is no replacement for Allegiance. It's a good game for hopping in for 10 min to get a quick bash in, not something with heaps of depth like our shared passion.

Also my joystick is still at the shop

Allegiance is a community, not a game.

What are you gonna do, ban us  .

It isnt the first time for a thread like this one and it won/t be the last. There was some game involving flying WWII planes, hell the L4D threadS went on much longer. Doorjam reviews other games for a living. ffs I went and bought another game based on Crono's post this week. Just seemed a fun way for a *cough* reminder that discussing your other girlfriends so enthuasatically while using this girlfriend's cell might be bad forum ;)

My honest reaction to the repeated banning of accounts on OTHER gaming forums for a mild recommendation along lines of, "I like this game called Allegiance maybe you would too", However when you run across this time after time it does make me wonder is all

"stuff" LANS reallythat required "stuff"?!? "ban me" Fuzz...

I do wonder if the Wisconsinite's intentions are less then pure. No matter its part of his charm to me

tl;dr I get it you band of monkey nuts, and am relieved its a flavor of the day thing rather then say L4D cause losing Duckie was hard, FreeBeer unthinkable, and refill *faints*

edit: changed it to refill cause I had forgotten that whole RT has me chained in a box down it their clubhouse basement, so that base is covered and all. I do like the "gimpster" nick but having to sort Raveen's LP collection while wearing leather pants isn't much fun.

My intentions are to play a new, currently non-boring game with some people I know I can manage to get along with . . . although I am not currently living in Wisconsin  .
