I have a geForce 8800M GTS for WinXP (and the supposedly nonexistant currant driver)
Is there a version of the XP driver that fixes this?

I had to go through some interesting tstuff to get my 8800M to work at all with WinXP

After much fiddling with settings, I get semi-stable 60fps on 8600M GS 256MB. Drivers: 174.74. Older ones did worse for me. 92.xx was the first ones that made sense, but those have some serious issues with widescreen... It drops to 40ish in big furballs and the max res on which it works fine is 1024 :/

Saddest part is, that I have tested the new ASGS on my old lappy (Intel 945 GM crap of a gfx card) and it ran Alleg just fine at 1400x1050... That made me try with my even older lappy (VERY old Radeon Mobile), 60fps at 1024x768 in training missions (LAN card fried).

Anyway, if someone is interested in my settings, drop me a PM (screenshot won't do much good, it's on Polish and I can't be assed to translate it now /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />)

Please see this thread regarding an alpha version that can be used on the main servers.

http://www.freeallegiance.org/forums/index...t=0#entry239404

Quick version
Get this http://fazdev.alleg.net/FAZ/Allegiance_DX9_alpha.zip
Place it in your allegiance folder
Launch it with ASGS

Edit: fixed the link

Is the direct link for beta? It didn't work for me (did not show the DX9 config window, did not connect to server). I used the version from the ZIP posted in the other thread and that did the job.

it's an early alpha test for the fix for the nvidia fps issue. it has some known bugs in it.

see http://www.freeallegiance.org/forums/index...t=0#entry239404 for more details

Geforce 175.16 > still low FPS

Nothing has changed for Allegiance.

Dogbones wrote:QUOTE (Dogbones @ Dec 16 2007, 07:10 PM) I got my hands on an 8600 GT OC 512 MB card (also a BFG) running the latest (163.75) drivers. It had NO problems. I was getting a solid 70 fps.

So this problem seems specific to the 8800 GT and the latest drivers. Older drivers may work but I have not tried them yet (or know where to get ones that I can reasonably trust).

I've opened a support ticket at nVidia regarding this, especially now that I know the 8600 does not have the problem but the 8800 does. I am not too hopeful however that they will spend any time on this. But maybe given they have another 'close' driver that works they might look into it.

ZOMG!! You're NOT Serisous?? 70 FPS?? I have a Radeon 9700 Pro and I get over 130 in crowded sectors!! Running this on an A7n8X Deluxe with an Athlon 2800+ CPU and 4GB's of memory.

DA-a-a-a-a-A-MN - maybe I won't be getting a new system!
