Woo!

Perfhud drivers work fine! /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />

http://developer.nvidia.com/object/nvperfhud_home.html

I get 60fps solid in a dogfight w/ those on windows XP. I'm not sure exactly which version of the driver it uses or is based on though, or how it will perform with modern games like Crysis which require later drivers. Warrants more testing (by someone else)

Note: it apparently doesn't support 8800 GT yet.

AEM wrote:QUOTE (AEM @ Mar 28 2008, 11:33 AM) I dual boot windows vista and xp. My motherboard has 2 pci-e x16 slots. I (sadly) just use vista now w/ my HD 3870 in the top slot. Would it work for me to throw an old video card into slot 2 and put those drivers on the XP partition and use a different video card for each OS?
You have an ATI card - do you have issues? Mine got solved with 7.12s (which I haven't updated since).

Nope, just wondering. Anyway I have a $6 ATI x1550 on the way and I'll test this.

Also any idea if the 72XX or 73XX Nvidia cards have this problem? (looking for a decent older card for a 2nd pc)

They will if you use 100x drivers. The older cards work fine with the 9x drivers.

I've been experimenting with various drivers on my GeForce 8600M GS 256. Results:

94.xx series: 60fps with vsync on, wouldn't budge even with all the hi res stuff in a furball with qf spamming newbies. Resolution: 1680x1050@32bit
154.xx series: 25ish fps on average with constant drops to 10fps if something bigger happened to cross the screen. Resolutions: from 800x600 to 1680x1050. Interesting thing is, that resolution doesn't seem to affect the fps at all.
164.xx series: a little bit less suckage: 30ish fps and noticably less drops to 10-15fps. Again, resolution doesn't affect the fps.
172 beta: better, but still not perfect. In an average game quite steady 40fps, didn't usually go under 20fps. Anniversary game though was a $#@!ing pain... 10-12fps on the bomb runs. Still, the best of the newer ones.

Really, wtf dd they bork, that can't be fixed? /mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />
