Awesome, at least we got two things out of this thread, a guest appearence by Thal (p.s. I hope you are now a newbie(-6) you slacker), and someone bitch slapped TE (and thus creating neo-mania minute by minute reports on the event).

Also I've no direct personal interests here: it's not about a venture to earn money, on the contrary it might be a great opportunity for this community.

People have threatened to split the community for YEARS, and have also made perfectly valid and serious attempts to do so. It's simple: People (generally) trust this community, or they would have flocked to any number of these other 'alternate communities' long ago.

However, I also can't help but feel that you DO have the community's interests at heart in at least some of these things, but the method which you're choosing to employ only makes people much LESS inclined to trust you with such high-level responsibilities.

So all-in-all, we still love you, KGJV This community would not have even got off the ground without such contributors as yourself. But like an aging family member, you're simply worrying us with some of your antics

Now, I'd like to clarify some points:

There was no ultimatum here, at least not from me. May be I didn't use the proper phrasing, there was just a deadline for me. There was no obligation or threat associated with my demand. That is quite interesting that you (and others?) saw an ultimatum here.

As I clarified already before I also didn't threatened to split the community but rather have a debate and a vote about it. That's not the same thing. I (we actually) really think there is a minority here that could use their very own community and game (a "more fps/less rts" Alleg) but we might be wrong hence the debate/vote.

Now, I never asked for "marketing or demographics information", I don't know where this come from ?!
I did talk about some studies about this community. They have been conducted in the past months and some are still in progress now too. This is handled by someone else which is not related to this community.

I don't see any issue disclosing the hardware/software of the systems because the potential hackers/griefers have already a nuclear bomb if they want, so new bullets wont change anything... It's just the systems of a small community, no stranger really care enough to harm it so if harm must come one day, it'll be probably from the inside. Also by details I mean just : hardware, OS, software, ownership and costs. I didn't ask detailed informations about the configuration and security settings. But I do agree and understand that when someone own or pay or has built something, it's a very natural behavior to be very protective of it or over estimate its importance. or not ? dunno for sure here.

Ok. I admit I used some form of provocative 'mind game' here and I apologized already but the replies (and their order) of key people in here gave us a lot of information about this community and how it works and reacts. The 'chain' ended up with Thalgor's appearance. That's very very interesting. We learned a lot for our future endeavor and we know to who to talk directly now.

And very sorry about my antics!

Kage, thanks for posting that followup.
I realize it probably doesn't matter to you, but your post made me feel a lot more 'at ease' with this recent drama.

I've re-read this thread and realized that the implications were louder than the words. It's too easy to read too much between the lines in an all-text environment.
A re-read showed me that there was no clear ultimatum by you, nor was there any threat to split; just a question about whether people would talk about splitting.

The re-read made me ask myself: what could I have said that I didn't? and one important point came up that Thalgor mentioned.

KGJV, actions speak far louder than words, and over the last 10 years your actions have been instrumental in getting us where we are today. Almost all of the changes/features/additions/modifications that have EVER been made to Allegiance are based on code you wrote long ago. Thalgor said it the best: We love you, but are/were recently wondering "wtf?" You have a tremendous amount of respect from me, and deserve far more from the community at large.

Now I'm sure you'll read that last paragraph as me trying to play politics again, or as me trying to butter you up, but it's not. Your actions are your actions regardless of what my words are saying about them.
And although sometimes you may have words which people disagree with (abolishing hiders, potentially splitting into more targetted communities), hey...who doesn't? People have hated my words (You did earlier in this thread ), Mastametz's words (those got him banned!), BV's words (people banned by him HATE it when he rubs it in ), Imago's words (bigotry), and even Thalgor's words (anyone have an example?).

In the end, I'm glad you are still here with us, and I hope you will be with this community for years to come.
