Tracking the key combination won't work as different people have different chatpacks installed. These map the current VCs to different key combinations so `yb on one pack may be the same VC as `lx on another.

Tracking the text may work but ideally you want to know when an order has been given via VC (with the associated Hit Insert to comply stuff) as opposed to an order being given over the chat.

Saying "I need repairs" is less effective than using the "Need Repairs!" VC and associated order.

If you look at the bottom of this page, that's what I'm doing with chat: [GOTO], [BUILD], etc, instead of the actual text. Unfortunately, the voice chat is a different program, so I can't track it.

Plus, a lot of the "general" chats aren't linked to a specific command. Things like "Defend the miners!" aren't accompanied by a command you can accept to fly to the miners in danger.

Thanks for the info on the chat packs. I may have to figure out a different way. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

by voice chat he means things like pressing `1 to generate a sound saying "Affirmative" and with text in the chat saying "Affirmative"

some voice chats generate orders, like `5 "attack my target" and gives an attack order with target of your current target

i notise you are tracking orders, but the orders would be useful if they had their operands too

like

[Build] a1054
and
[Attack] Strike700@PK

but i'm guessing you already intend to do that

I already do that, actually. I just don't display it.

I usually play between 2pm and 5pm EDT, but you should stick to the times where you can get most players - there are more americans in the game.

If your trying to gather data on how teamplayers interact, your going to need a way to compare the chat log with what actually happened in the game. This game is PERFECT for analysing war strategies.I often mention in-game about commanders giving general orders like: "Someone nan the miners".This is usually ineffective as everyone thinks that "someone" means "someone else".

Earlier you had mentioned the death of a player. That happened once and we organised a virtual tribute with an Air Force style "one man out" formation. There was a minute of silence on the chats and everyone took screen shots. It was very classic.

I already allow for a reconstruction of the game. The issue is that actually verifying is a human thing - it isn't automated and it won't be automated any time in the near future. But it is possible. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
